Topic: Possible blocked tube/s after D&C Posted: 31 October 2008 at 2:05pm |
DH and I went to the Dr this morning to try and get some tests underway. He said to us its too early and we need to wait and try and relax. He did say after looking at my charts, I may have a blocked or infected tube from after the D&C, possibly both. As good as my charts look he said I am not ovulation properly as my temps are not rising correctly after ovulation. However, they wont look at me for another 2 cycles as we have to be trying for 6 months after a MC
Has anyone had this? How is it fixed? Can I do something or take any supplements to clear them?

Rianna Im sorry hun it does suck when you get told to wait longer. We are the same they won't do any testing until I m/c for a third time
But you could self refer to a specialist and pay for it yourself, I guess if you wanted to hurry up initial investigations. The other thing your doctor could do is the day 21 bloods which would definately tell whether you had ovulated before then.

Hi Rianna - If your tubes are blocked the only way to know for sure is with a lap and dye. This is a laparascopic operation where they run some liquid dye through each tube and watch on the screen to see if the dye runs through clearly or is blocked.
Sometimes if the tubes are blocked then the dye actually clears the tubes. But this is quite a big call from your Dr, quite a harsh thing to say if you ask me. Since you have already been pregnant in the recent past I think its ok to keep trying another 2 months. Your mc was quite recent. Two months will seem like ages to you but it will hopefully go fast with Christmas etc???
Good luck.

Hi Rianna
I would have thought whether your tubes are blocked and whether you are ovulating would be completely separate issues although no one has ever suggested my tubes are blocked so I've never looked into it in any depth.
I think its not that uncommon for peoples cycles to be a bit weird for a few months after miscarriage and come right by themselves.

The more I read this chick, the more confused I get. How can he tell by your temps that your tubes might be blocked and how do they get blocked from a miscarriage considering they are not affected... it was an ectopic....
It is normal to TTC 12 months before being referred or after 3 mc. Even thought that is sooo frustrating!
Are you guys still coming back to NZ in January? Do you want to start seeing a specialist in Aus only to move and have to get a new one? Just a thought I had. If you are still coming back in January then maybe you could start seeing someone then (if you are not pg already of course )

Thanks ladies. Since yesterday Ive had time to calm down a bit and think more about what he said. It wasnt my usual Dr but one I see if I cant see my usual one. At the time I was so angry and upset with his Blasé approach.
Mel I know what you mean about how he is able to tell if my tubes are blocked by looking at my temps. I questioned this as well but he did say it is only a possibility. And when he suggested it I was already really upset and frustrated.
I am going to see my normal Dr next cycle as he's on holidays at the moment and I will talk to him about our options. Its just so easy to loose all hope when nothing is happening and questioning if the girly issues I had last year are having anything to do with it.
Hehe home hmmm!!!! Unfortunately with NZ being in a Recession were staying put for now which is a shame.

Bummer, we want to go back to Australia, but we own our house here and we need things to settle down so we can get a good price.

Rianna - you must be so bummed out that you aren't going back to NZ now. So sorry to hear that.
I'm so gald you're feeling better now. I still can't believe that GP told you that. It seems such a big call to make on such little information. Hang in there.
DH and I are now in Brissie but Im really homesick. I miss my Mum and Dad terribly. DH is working long hours and Im just sitting around the house bored. Im waiting for some paperwork to come through before I can get a job. Not sure what type of job I'll get being pg though???
Melnel - We kept our Auckland house and rented it out. We knew we'd lose too much money if we tried to sell it now.
I really hope that we can make some money over here in Oz for the next year or two and then head back to NZ to live again.
I sure hope this world recession doesn't get too bad. Its a bit nerve racking isn't it?
