Topic: AARRRGGGHHH spider! (content may disturb) Posted: 23 April 2006 at 12:24am |
Most of you will freak out at this, beleive me i am SOOOO badly. Just thought i would share with you a pic of a spider mike just found outside by our garden. It is the hugest we have seen here, they are usually not this big but typical of the type of spiders i was telling you about. I am just freaking out a heap. I do not think i will sleep tonight AT ALL!!!!
The container it is in is about 10cm accross, and his legs are not fully outstretched in the pic.
Sorry to all you archnophobics, but i had to share this.
can i just say
AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH

by the way, the only reason we have no seriously squished this icky creature is that mike had trapped it in a container, (and believe me, it IS NOT being kept inside our house!!!) and we are gonna take it to the landlord on monday to prove our point and hopefully speed the process of getting the house sprayed which the owners have agreed to pay for.

Oh my, that is a rather large spider. Thankfully we don't often get them in here, or when we do they're relatively little - NOT like that fugly thing ! Kind of reminds me of a while back when I was still living at home, and we had cockroach problems - sat down in a lounge chair one evening, picked up a magazine from the basket on the floor beside me, opened it up and PLOP! a giant cockroach fell into my lap. I can guarantee you the whole neighborhood heard me scream ! I have to wonder what's taking the house owners so long to get your house sprayed though, if they've agreed to pay for it ?

Yuk, spiders are awful things............ especially in your house!!!!! I hate snakes the worst and don't miss them at all now I live here!!!
I don't know about Ayja but Sam would pick up a spider and most probably put it in his mouth. I would certainly be using the "my childrens safety" line on the landlord as well to extend the need for the house to be sprayed.
Best of luck, hopefully you don't need to live with your creepy 8 legged friends for too long

ew i know - the girls have not played outside today, i think it maybe related to the fact that the next door neaighbours did a heap of excavating at their place yesterday and their wood pile is near the fence - mike said it was walking in a direction from their place to ours.
ha, i got up to my sisters last week and usually i hate her place for the spiders cos they are out on a farm and its inevitable that you're gonna get a few inside. I go to her "well, your house isn't so bad i think compared to ours" lol.
I got that statement withdrawn the next morning when i hoped in her shower and was about to get out when i turned around and a LARGE white tail jumped onto my shoulder. I swear the whole district must have heard me! it fell down and got in a puddle of water and curled up so i thought "good, ha! stupid spider!" turned off the shower so i could get out and hello, no more water on the spider and it ran at me, so again, i leapt over it to get out the shower and screamed and screamed. mike just comes into the room going "yeah yeah what now" but even he was a bit freaked by it.
i swear i am at the point where my skin is crawling all the time.
mum2emj, i have had that happen too.it's seriously yucky.

I think Hannah may have had a bite from a white tail recently. It must have been a fairly small one though because it didn't do much damage. Freaked me out though!!
Her window opens out onto a nice little bushy patch which is a haven for spiders. I don't mind little ones, or even moderate sized ones but I think even I would be a little freaked by one that size Janine! Ick!

Eeeeewwwww I hate spiders with a vengeance!!!
That spider you caught looks like one that was in my hallway the other week, right by my daughers room, and I'd been home bout half an hour and put things away before I saw it, so god knows where it had been before ewwwww hate to think.
Mine may have even been a little bigger, I grabbed the fly spray (couldnt handle squashing it or catching it) and must have used half the container on it! It was so big even from the other end of the hallway i could see it going mental felt kinda mean but I hate them, picked it up with tongs when it was dead and it was still huge dead and curled up, GROSS GROSS GROSS GROSS GROSS
eeeewwww and the white tail in the spider gives me shivers.....

Jacob and I got bitten in bed (co sleeping) when we were in chch in feb, and I didn't think anything of it UNTIL they both got infected, and Jacob had this huge red pussy thing on the back of his neck, about the size of 3 50c peices, and I had a 50c size one on my wrist. THEN the infection spread to any open cuts, I had a paper cut on my finger and JJ had scratched his face and ear. GROSS. It took 2 lots of antibiotics to clear it up. Bleeech!

LOL am I the only one that doesn't have a spider thing? I am pathologically afraid of birds, and mice don't do it for me either, but I'm quite fond of spiders.
Could be because I grew up in Australia where we used to find 15-20cm Huntsman (not poisonous) in our shower on a regular basis. The biggest one we ever caught was so big that with it's body on the bottom of the jar the legs reached all the way up and over the top.
I do feel for you tho Janine - our house is infested with ants, which I have had sprayed but the buggers keep coming back, and it really sucks sharing your house with a plague of insects.

I'm with ya Emma... I hate killing spiders so if I ever see one I catch it in my hand and release it outside.
I also have a fondness for bees and bumblebees. Not wasps so much tho
