Topic: Double Strollers     Posted: 13 December 2008 at 3:08pm |

We are going to need to get a double stoller before this baby is born and I was wondering what everyone thinks are the best ones.

I dont like the wide double ones, I was thinking along the lines of the Phil and Teds etc where the baby can go underneath and the toddler/older baby on top.
We are looking for the best value for money etc.
 Thanks!

I have just bought a second hand phil and teds of TM - they are a pretty good price on there usually and there are heaps!

I have used it a few times with a friends little boy in as well and it works really well. Both DH and I love pushing it - so much easier than the single 4 wheel one we had previously. I am using it as a single one now until baby is born. It is really easy to convert from double to single as well so if you get to go out with only 1 it works well too.

Sheza .. we just bought a Phil and Teds Vibe (as we needed a seat for womble)

We it! .. although since you are a country bumpkin you might be better off with the sport model (although I didnt like the brake on it)
Also .. I got an email that gave you 20% off at babycity (which I can forward to you if you want) although it runs out on the 15th December so you would have to be quick lol
But .. the bounty pack book had a 10% off voucher for babycity in it (or have you not got one of those yet)?

I am hoping to talk DH into getting a MB dble stroller. It is only 5.5cm wider than the sgle which isn't too bad. With the P&T where baby is down below I just wonder how long baby will be happy to be there before you have to move them into the seat and will the toddler be happy to be walking by then (does that make sense???)

We have a dbl MB and its great, Leah still loves going in it but wouldn't go in a seat above the baby at all.

Hmmm, I think we will probably go with the Phil n Teds one, I like the idea of having something the same style as out mountain buggy but for two babies.

We are going to get the get the stroller once I havbe had the 12 weeks scan and stuff Then I guess we will sell the mountain buggy maybe, or I might keep it for when mum or dad want to take Caden for a walk or whatever.
 Thanks Everyone :)

The thing I like about the Phil and Teds is that you can use it as a single buggy as well. So I can have both gremlins in it, or I can use it just for lil miss. They don't seem to mind being one behind the other.

What I don't like about it is that the brake is really stiff so is a PITA and that you have to take the toddler seat off to fold it if you are using it in toddler-toddler mode (it folds with it on in baby-toddler mode). The Vibe or Dash address both of these problems tho.

Oh cool, I wanted something that can just fold down with the baby bit still attached.
Im a bit worried about the weight of it though as im having another c section....the capsule was bad enough when Id just had caden...I had to have someone with me all the time when i went out in the first 8 weeks as i wasnt allowed to life the pram etc...
 Are P n T quite heavy?

The Vibe is relatively light .. its heavier than our jeep .. but that is designed for lots of offroad use so its light and agile.

The vibe also locks when folded so it cant pop out on you.

And the brake is a one button on the handle (which I love) oh and another reason we decided on a Vibe (other than it looks good) is that I could fold it with the toddler seat on either in the top setting or the behind setting.

A pram that expensive to us is too extravagant, simply can't afford that and paying 4 figures for a pram doesn't sit right in my head lol (I'm the budget controller in this house lol). I think we will end up going for the sport if we decide on the pnt's or if by some miracle someone sells one on trademe in Palmy

There is also the Brevi Twin Stroller - it's not a side by side so is narrow, but the seats aren't on top of each other like the P&T either. I'm not sure why it says from 6 months plus though?
