And I want to get the minister or whoever is running the show to say something for me ( I won't be able to speak!). But I just can't put it into words. I only have like an hour to get it to him.
I want to tell him about how Nena used to get the giggles at inapropriate (sp???) times. Especially when people hurt themselves. It seems to be something in her genes as most of her kids and grandkids do it as well.
She was the nicest lady in the whole world but she just burst into uncontrollable laughter when aweful things happened! Like when she was out driving once with one of her (grown up) sons, they saw a car hit an old lady on a crossing, she had obviously broken her leg and it was quite serious. Nena and her son suddenly roared with laughter and they couldn't stop to help so they just drove away with tears of laughter.
It is the kind of laughter where you can't breath or make a noise at all and my mum and I used to join her over silly things. We would all have to take our glasses off to wipe the tears away.

Anyway, how do I mention that I will always think of her when I am wetting myself/rolling on the floor/silent shaking/crying with laughter? Without it being too long as she has so much family, everyone will want to say something.

I'm really sorry about your Nana Chickion.  She sounds like such a fun lady.

Why don't you say exactly what you posted but write it out as if you're writing a letter to her.

I'd love to claim credit for the idea but it's what some of the grandkids did at my great-aunts funeral last year - it was so lovely thinking of her the way they remembered her.

Amby - i think you should mention Jody inheriting that trait as well - if the big grins in her photos are anything to go by she certainly takes atter Nena!

Ok, I have done it. Wow, that letter idea made it so easy! I hope it's not too long.
Susie, I think Jody does have it too, she laughs at me when I cry lol

Nena,
I loved it how you used to get the giggles at the most inappropriate times, especially when people hurt themselves! It seems to be something in your genes, most of your children and grandchildren do it too. You are the nicest lady in the whole world but you just burst into uncontrollable laughter when awful things happened.
It is the kind of laughter where you can't breath or make a noise at all. Mum and I have this giggle gene. The three of us would be sitting around your table having a normal conversation then one of us would giggle a little, starting a chain reaction until we were all silently shaking, removing our glasses and reaching for the tissues. It used to take a long time to drink a cuppa.
Thank you for giving me this funny (although sometimes embarassing) gene, I will always think of you when the giggle bug gets me.
Love, hugs and kisses,
Amby

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your Nena, chickoin, from the few posts I have read of yours, it sounds like you had a fantastic relationship with her.

The letter you've written for her funeral sounds lovely!  Well done!

That's lovely Amby. Just perfect.

Your posts have made me think a lot about my own Nana who passed away when I was 18. I used to call her Nena too.

Hope the funeral is just beautiful and there is some laughter amongst the tears. xxx

Sorry to hear of your loss chick I hope tomorrow goes well.

I wish I'd seen this earlier, basically I did the same for my grandad, wrote him a letter and kind of explained bits of it that other people might not get. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, up there in front of 200 people but after the initial breakdown I held it together.

It seems like everyone's losing people at the moment, we lost 2 grandads in the space of 2 weeks recently man it sucks.

Oh and I love that your daughter has her name too! What a beautiful momento to pass down to her.

That is just beautiful.

I'm very sorry Amby that you are going through this. Your Nena sounds like an amazing woman.

Big hugs. We're all here for you.

Sorry for your loss.

Love what you wrote. When my dad died I wrote him a letter and put it with him, all the things you never say, and think you have heaps of time to say it. I make a point of telling my kids I love them & have heaps of hugs, (proberly too much).

Thinking of you tomorrow.

Thank you all so much. There is no way I could get up there in front of everyone, because if I don't break down crying I will get the giggles I really admire those who are strong enough to do that.
I am lucky for having such a close relationship with Nena as nothing was left unsaid, we both said I love you a lot and I have no regrets.
Nena was so touched that I gave Jody her name, she was so proud and would tell everyone :)
Thanks again for the letter idea MrsM, I told mum about it and she did the same thing so it helped her too.

I had no regrets either with my grandma either Amby , my last visit with her just before she died , was very special because I know she died knowing how much I loved her and how special she was to me , it makes it all just that little bit easier .
Hope it goes well .....

Hi ladies,
Just wanted to say thank you again so much for your advice and support.
Nena's funeral was really nice and I had a lovely day with my giant family.
The funeral director read the thing out for me and he did such a great job, everyone thought it was funny and it lifted the mood so well.
So yes, thank you
