I don't think he will be able to, considering the McD's brought out the Georgie Pie brand all those years ago. Therefore McD's still has the rights to that brand.

I did see it , they had a big picture of a Georgie Pie pie, how could I have missed it
Mc Ds is considering fighting it, tho , the guys pies arent called Georgie Pie pies, they are GP pies and different logo etc
BUT , the exciting part , which I will quote .
" McDonald's NZ managing director Mark Hawthorne said his company owned all Georgie Pie copy rights and trademarks and would investigate further ,blah blah blah , he then goes on to say (exciting part)
"he said the company was considering a GEORGIE PIE COMEBACK , not in standalone restaurants but intergrated into other outlets, we have discussed GP in a more serious nature with our investors within the past few months."
I will die happy , if Georgie pie comes back , no other pie comes close .

That would be awesome so long as it's the pie with the good grade meat and not the horrible stuff they packed into it in the last few months when GP was in its death throes

A disgusting chain "restaurant" I think only in Auckland?? (although we had one for a while in Wellington). Like a McD's or KFC but they sold pies.
(no offence to those who loved the place, I thought it was awful!)

they were a restaurant chain that was bought out by McDonalds in 1996, they were known for their funtastic value meals (of course due to inflation etc now, that wont be possible)
Im not sure what GP Summerlamb went to , but the 14000 face book members of the Bring Back Georgie Pie group obviously remembers better
They tasted different to other pies, especially those disgusting Big Ben pies that are just gravy .
and the pastry tasted better .
My favourite was the mince and cheese, I would take the top pastry off, dip the chips in the mince and sauce and then eat the pastry .
HEAVEN .

They had one in Rotorua too.
I cant see how it would be much competition for mcdonalds, one does burgers and the other does pies.
I say BRING IT BACK, i loved it.

I can't help but wonder if sometimes people remember it being better than it was? The pies were pretty average really...I get much tastier pies from my local bakery. The main thing about GP was it was well priced.

I liked the apple pies.
Does anyone in Akl remeber the big GP at the top of Wairau road and how popular it was cause it was one of the first with the indoor play ground? That would have been nearly 20 years ago?
Then it turned into lord knows how many asian restaurants with those torn curtains and washing being hung out on the upstairs level. So gross.

oooh gross, I hate bakery pies, they are always full of gravy .
The only pies that are slightly similar to GP is Jesters
Our old GP is now a pub , and thats not doing well either.

Ooh our local Georgie Pie had a pirate ship in the middle that had seats - it was so cool!
I so remember dipping my chips in my mince & cheese pie, yum!

I miss Georgie Pie!! i was gutted when they got rid of it!! I agree with kelly, no other pie comes close at all!
I hope they bring it back. Food town used to sell pies that tasted exactly the same at Georgie pie pies! Then they got rid of them aswell GRRR
