Topic: how early is too early to test Posted: 05 April 2009 at 9:25am |
am doing my best to restrain myself from testing - and as i'm on 6 DPO the logical part of my brain knows it's too early to test however the hormonal part of my brain is saying go for it ... of course it will positive
so today's question is how early have you tested whether it was a BFN or BFP

I have tested that early and got bfns it's a waste of a test really as take 7-10 days til implantation then 2-4 days for hcg to build up to a detectable level in ya pee...
My last BFP was at about 12dpo, the one before that was 14dpo... and even though I know it is pointless testing before that time I still do it just incase I'm one of the very few people that have a early implantation craziness...
So are ya gonna wait??

The earliest I've tested was 10DPO with a Discover test - its was very very very faint so would have been a BFN on other brands. Its probably cheaper to try and wait for 1 day after AF was due (and not waste all your tests!), but I was never able to hold out that long!
Just follow what the instructions on your test say and good luck.

well i have a pile of internet cheapies (which make it even more tempting to test) ... the instructions say they measure 10ml of HCG so are designed to show BFP 5-7 days before AF is due ... which again doesn't help with temptations
will let you know how i get on ... ie whether i can restrain myself or not

yeah i have 50 of those internet ones......im not sure if they really do measure that low........cos when i had my BFP last cycle i used a first response and internet ones and it was the first response that had the darkest line not the internet ones..........but because their cheaper than the shop ones i dont feel so bad using more.......

chickielou - I think the internet cheapies always seem to have quite faint pos lines - I was looking at the pictures of em on FF and lots never seemed to get to dark... maybe they put less dye in them...

I got my BFP this time around at 10DPO (last pregnancy it was at 11DPO) - it was quite clear so I reckon I would have seen it at 9DPO. I used Discover. I think I implant quite early though.

Wish we could have a fast forward button for times like these........Im only 4DPO........its kinda boring, cos at least with waiting to OV you can start POAS for OPKs and of course BDing etc, but then afterwards BDing is the last thing i want to do, so basically is just sitting around having nothing better to do than think that every ache pain and niggle etc is a "sign"

I tested at 8DPO and got a BFP, with my m/c baby, but with Caden and this pregnancy it took until AF was due to get a definite BFP. With Caden I had about 4 SUPER DUPER faint lines and I wasnt too sure if I was preg or not but then got a BFP on a digital just before AF was due.
This baby I got a few faint lines the days before AF was due, but again SOOOO faint I wasnt sure, then used a First Response midstream and got a clear BFP just before AF was due.

I know exactly what you're talking about!!! Very hard to wait. I have 3 days to go until I am able to test- but yes I have been very tempted to test, like NOW!!!
