When did you do this?
What sort of first bed did you buy?
Is 2 too young to be making it more of a little girls room than babies room if you know what i mean?

Im thinking about doing it for Kylahs 2nd birthday. She loves going to bed and im sure she will be fine in a big bed.

What sort of big bed do i get?
I really want this bed but its probably too grown up for her. Im just not sure what i am supposed to get..

Its funny that you have put this post up because I have just started this transition on Sam's room today.
I have just given it a bit of a tidy up and taken out some of her 'baby' toys, and removed some of her wall stickers.   I am going to repaint her chest of drawers and update the knobs as well.
Her bed is being delivered in the next few weeks and it is just a standard sleepyhead Single bed. I have bought a set of Head/base boards on TM that I will paint in the same colours as her drawers.

The link you have for a bed is gorgeous. I don't see why that wouldn't be perfect. Just keep in mind that you can pretty much pick up a whole bed for just the price of some frames and you will have to buy the mattress on top of that

We thought we would transition Issy into a big girl bed at Christmas time (she will be nearly two)

We have our fingers crossed that number two will be sleeping through by then, so we will have the stamina to deal with any issues arising from her transitioning.

We are actually planning on going from a cot to a toddler bed (which is low to the ground) .. then going to a single bed (which is obviously an extra cost .. but Ive seen some super cute toddler beds, so I thought why not)
Mummy to Issy (3) and Elias (18 months)

I did it .. 41 kgs gone! From flab to fab in under a year LFs weight blog

Jakes got a kids room and has had one since we moved in here just after his 1st bday. The only thing is hes still in his cot but thats changing soon as hes more and more keen on having a bed. His cot turns into a bed so thats what we'll do for now but I have my eye on a bed with a trundle.
He has a huge mural on one wall that I painted with cars and trucks glued on. It matches the duvet I made him. The other walls are bright green, bright blue and bright yellow and he has bright blue and white shelves hanging on the wall.
To change it from baby to toddler room I did the following:
Instead of the big feeding chair I had, hes got a pile of oversized cushions and pillows in one corner which he crashes out on to read.
I put up shelves in his wardrobe for clothes so I didn't have to have drawers taking up space (he climbs too ). It also means its easier for him to get clothes out (we've reached the 'I wana dress myself' stage).
All the baby canvases I painted when I was pregnant are packed away and hes got new vehicle related ones up now. I like themes :)
I went through all his toys and culled the broken or ratty ones, packed away the ones to young for him and boxed up half of what was left over so I can change them around every now and then.

jack's room has always been a kids room overall and seeing as there will be two of them in there it's pretty neutral. We got 2nd hand bunks off TM (great cond) for a steal at $150. I also put some of his stuff he likes in his bookcase with a beanbag in front for chilling out, he has a rocking horse on his part of the room and have moved all the baby stuff nearer the cot side (room is pretty big).

We are doing the big transition (cot - sides off - big bed) in 2 months time. Nothing like pressure lol as I'll be the only parent home to do it but oh well.

We have always had a kids room.

But when we put him in a big bed I took the cot down and put the bed up (looks pretty similar to the one you are looking at just without the foot end) and removed the feeding chair. I got his duvet off trademe for about $10 new

We already had wall stickers and painting on the wall that I had done ages ago.

I did it at about 18 months. She was sleepign with us in bed so her room was a kid room with a grown up single bed in it. It is like a sleigh bed. I wanted something that is decent and will last quite a while. All the toddler stuff was even way overpriced for something that will last only a few years or way too unstable.

She was already use to sleeping in a bed so didnt even get a bedrail. Just put her big pooh bear teddy next to her. And she never rolled out.

Will see what I will do with Andrew. All depends if he is going to be happy in the cot or prefer our bed.

only advice i have is to make sure the bed you get is a bed that will grow with them if you like i.e. is suitable from say age 2 through until an adult supports their growing spines.
