My fave meal is Thai Beef Salad. I make a salad using mesculun, cucumber, carrot, capsicum, avocado and a chopped chilli. I use lemon or lime juice and balsamic dressing and slice rump steak over the top - and sprinkle generously with corriander. When I have this, DP has a steak, potato and small salad.

There are heaps of things I like that he doesn't so we improvise.

Wills ee if I can think of some more ideas.....

A nice easy one in our household. It looks expensive cause of the chicken but when you compare it to proper fish n chips it is CHEAP.

Chicken breasts, say 2? Depending on how big an eater DH is & how old DD is. Chop into square/nuggets dust in flour & plain salt (freshly ground rock salt is yum) & fry in about 2 Tb of oil.

Cook some Pam chips as per packet. Pams are cheap & preservative/additive free

Really yummy & really filling

I meal plan, then put my ingredients in to foodtown online to work out how much everything is - then go shopping at pak n save. So far, I saved $50 over the regular grocery budget this week.

Ooh that sounds yumo!

Other real cheap meals are soups and so so yummy in winter although your DH might want something more if he is a meat man as mine is. I usually just make sure we have some bacon and eggs in the house and if he isn't happy he can cook a second course :)

Casseroles and stews are good too ;-) Do you have a slow cooker?
