Topic: Due Date/Concert Date - what do you think Posted: 03 August 2009 at 9:33am |
Hi Ladies,
As (some of you) might know Pearl Jam and Ben Harper are coming to Chch!!!! I am sooooo excited.
But the concert date is the 29th of Nov and my due date is 20th (of Nov)...Is this possible? Or am I dreaming? Surely I can do this?
What is the 'closest' to brith (before and after) concert stories you have heard?
What to do, what to do??

Ohhh hard one...
If you go early or on time & have a normal vag birth you could do it....bleeding though??
Dunno if I'd got super pregnant. I missed out on the big day out cause of being heavily pregnant.

hmm thats a difficult one.
my only concern would be if I have the baby before the concert would I even feel up to going to the concert. eg you have baby on tthe 27th.
I dont know how much the tickets are but I imagine they wont be cheap..so say you do buy them and end up having baby late and dont end up going to the concert.....unless you manage to find someone to buy them off you .
if the dates were the other way around ie concert 20th and due date 29th I wouldnt see it as much of an issue

Personally, I would say you are dreaming. I haven't been to a concert heavily pregnant but there is no way I would do it!!!!!

I'm wondering about asking if there is a 'wheelchair' area.
(I do think I am slightly mad...but I just think this might be a really amazing concert)

I wouldn't risk it either you could end up wasting the money spent on the tickets.

Stink...this is not sounding good. (and I do know there will be other concerts... and I'm not really 'that' upset...a baby is HEAPS better than any concert I'm sure!)
I was just hoping someone would come on and say something like..."Yeah, I went to a concert if full labour and it totally took my mind off things" LOL.

Concert, not sure - lots of crowds and pushing (unless it is seated?) also being a week after EDD???
but I did go to a Super 12 final on my due date with Amy. My MW said the excitement and jumping up and down might get me going (no such luck, she arrived a week later )
As for feeling uncomfortable - it depends on the person. With both of mine I was OK and the day I had Sophie I was at the park, on the see-saw at lunch time and she was born at dinnertime .
It would be a great concert though

I went to a concert heavily pregnant however I was seated and it was at Vector and I used the lifts etc, however its not the most comfy thing to do!
I DEFINATELY wouldnt go if baby was 9 days old though, and id say that at that stage, you will covet sleep above everything else in the entire universe!

I totally agree with that- i remember being in bed by 7.30 every night just after Ella was born, so the idea of going to a concert really wouldn't appeal to me. and there is the issue with b/f as it can be around that time they go through a bit of a growth spurt and just want to feed constantly.
Sorry!

Awwwww cr@p timing! (the concert I mean lol)
I went to Kylie when I was 30 weeks, not knowing my waters would break a week later and C would come early. Even at that stage of pregnancy it was actually quite tiring - and we had seated tickets so I could have a rest between songs. Walking up and down stairs to get to the loos was a pain in the ar$e too!
I agree, if bubs has just arrived you probably won't want to leave them either.

I know of someone going into labour at Kylie here! She was about 38 weeks.
I wouldnt risk it hun, it sucks big time! I definately wouldnt want to be going to a concert heavily pg or having just given birth. I was too tired!

I'd have to say it's a bit ambitious. If you haven't had your baby yet, then you most likely will be pretty uncomfortable being a week overdue.
If you have had the baby, then you probably won't want to leave your days old newborn to go out either. If you are breastfeeding, then you will need to stay close by as well.
If the gig was a week before you are due then I would take the chance, but a week after is pretty dodgy. They will come again!!
I went to a concert at Vector (seated) when I was about 34 weeks. The seats there are so small it wasn't very comfy at all - and I am not a big person. Couldn't have imagined going at full term....

Yep I second the sleep thing. You'll probably be too exhausted to enjoy yourself whether the baby has arrived or not.

I remember going out when Jackson was 5 weeks old to a work do (Farewell type thing) and I thought THAT was ambitious I was so so tired and I only stayed for an hour. And that was 5 weeks after birth!

Maybe I'm a horrible mummy but I wouldn't have had a problem leaving my newborn with DH for a few hours to go to a concert (when DD was a week old I went and had a 2 hour facial/massage which was pure bliss), but as others have said, I would rather use that time to sleep!
If you did get tickets and decided that you didn't want to go for whatever reason, you could probably easily onsell them on Trade Me?

I'm sure it's not part of your plan but if you ended up having to have a c/sect then a concert definitely wouldn't be something you'd want to go to so soon afterwards.
Not trying to be negative, just pointing it out.
