Is there any way I can tell if baby's head has engaged? I've got a ob/doc's appointment tomorrow so I guess he'll let me know then but I thought maybe you ladies might have some ideas.

At my last week's midwife appointment she said the head wasn't engaged, but since the appointment, actually probably only since the weekend, I've had increasing pressure down there and it's very uncomfortable to walk! I never had a waddle until now hehe. I don't think I have dropped overly much but feeling very heavy out the front.

Thanks

If you feel like you've got a bowling ball between your legs, then there is a good chance Baby's head is engaged!

Hahaha becca, that's exactly what it feels like! Should be all confirmed tomorrow morning so fingers crossed I guess.

If babys head is engaged, is that a sure sign that I'll have a natural birth and not need a c-section? Or is that just being naive?!

There's no such thing as a "sure bet" when it comes to childbirth... it is most likely that you will have a vaginal birth if Baby's head is engaged (and stays put!) but not guarenteed.

Not trying to scare anyone, but there are a number of different reasons people end up needing c-sections. The most common seems to be that the natural labour is not progressing or is taking too long and Baby becomes distressed. Another could be that Baby gets stuck, or is not quite in the right position (eg: an arm in front of their face) so will become stuck.

Yeah I just realised after I'd posted that, that a friend of my sister was engaged for about 4 weeks, and still ended up having a c-section. Poor lil me, I am so naive!!

Yikes, I don't like the thought of bubs getting stuck

Anything goes, I guess!
