I thought since midwives can check to see if you're dilated or not that maybe I could DIY and see if anything was happening yet. When TTC I used to check if it was high/low or open/closed so I figured I at least know what I'm kinda looking for. But.... it's not there!!! My cervix seems to have disappeared. Anyone else tried self-checking and know what's going on?

I guess I have to leave it to the professionals, but weird that it's obviously so high I can't reach it

umm you should'nt be checking it yourself
and most midwifes don't check untill you are in labour and even then some are hesitant to do it!

Thats not entirely true Tastic - I had a stretch & sweep 2 days before going into labour - My MW stretched me to 3cms and told me if I or DH felt curious we could feel babys head Not that I did (well bit hard to actually reach ) and DH was a little repulsed by the very thought lol!
I say go for it - granted you have clean hands of course

ETA - sorry didn't read your OP properly - I'm not sure what the cervix is supposed to feel like I'm afraid, like I said I never ventured down there. You could try googling? Either way, you're not too far off meeting your wee one - best of luck

I *think* the cervix is high and tucked away up and behind the uterus so would be pretty hard to get to.

Thanks girls, I googled it and it can be hard to reach so maybe I'll just leave it alone for now. Seems it's ok to go hunting if ya want though

I think you'll be ok to go hunting but be very gentle and don't poke around for too long.

A few days before delivery my Cervix was really really far back and high and only the day of delivery did it start coming forward but I was induced so not sure when it naturally starts coming forward.
