i have a question for those who are having or have had electives...... i just got my letter in the mail for the OB consult (not the c-sect date) and its on the 6th of may and i'm due 29th of may... i would have thought it would have been earlier than this or is that pretty standard???

I had my consultation with the OB at about 36 weeks.   But this was for a VBAC. Ended up with an emergency c-section anyway, but they usually do these things around 35 weeks.

I had an elective with my first, but he turned breech at 37 weeks, so had my consultation at 38 weeks, and my c-section was 39 weeks and 5 days.

I guess it depends on the hospital, how many others have appointments and stuff like that.   But sounds about right.

They like to leave things right till the last minute usually!

That sounds standard for our dhb, thats still 3 weeks before your due date. They would do enough of them so don't worry.

Thats sounds about right.
My DS was an emergency C Section and my DD was an elective, and my Csection was booked in when I was 40w 1d, as I was waiting to see if I could try a VBAC, but we booked in a C Section for 31st August, just incase. I got to 9 days over due and was over it so they brought my c section forward to the 27th August(09).

If you went into labour before then, they would take you in for an emergency C/S, so dont worry :)

My CS is booked for 11th March (3 days before due date) for a breech boy. have met with the OB (2 weeks before CS date) for a scan and quick chat. went in for an ECV on Friday last week.... wont be seeing OB and anethetist (sp?) for pre-admission discussion until Wednesday next week (less than 24 hours before my CS) so i guess it just depends on how much forewarning you have had.....

our boy has been breech since 19 weeks, and the position of my placenta has essentially lopped off a corner of my uterus, so quite hard for him to turn around anyway.... should have been earlier, but was trying all the natural homeopathic remedies and yoga etc to try and turn him before going for the ECV.....

im not worried about seeing OB a day before i go in though as ive always known it was s distinct possibility so i feel im prepared....

good luck hun!!!!!

sorry to hijack - I got a letter yesterday in the mail for an appointment for 'OBS Anaesthetic Preassesment'. Is that for c-sect? Is this the same appointment you ladies are talking about?

Thats the 2nd one I think? You get your first to find out when with the OB, then the 2nd is usually a week before hand with the other team to discuss anaesthetics? Dont quote me on that tho, i'm waiting for mine to come in the mail!
