Hi all,

I am not sure whether anything has been posted about this before - probably has but too lazy too look! Yesterday at my midwive appointment they measured my tummy to see how big baby was - (25.5 centimetres from crown to rump not including legs) so that might make him around 30ish cms. Has anyone else being getting measured at their midwive appointments? Just curious.

I get my fundal height measured every time - they measure from the pelvic bone to the top of the uterus - is that what you are talking about? Not sure how they would measure the actualy baby without a scan...but maybe they can?

Yes that's it - from the pelvic bone to the top of the uterus - this is the first time that I had it done so all new to me! It must be an approximate measure as like you say it would be hard to tell without having the scan?

Yep that sounds about right - FH is usually pretty close in cm to the # of weeks you are. That doesn't neccesarily indicate how tall bubs is tho.

If you like I can dig out my 24 week scan report and find out how tall my bubs were then to give you a rough idea of what sort of length your bubs might be now (iff you add a couple of cm). I do remember that they were 680g and 650g in weight.

Grrr it doesn't tell me after all that! Their abdominal circumference was roughly 20cm and their head dircumference roughly 19-20cm as well, and the length of the femur (thigh bone I think) was 6cm but it doesn't give an estimate of total length.

Yup I've had that fundal thingy done to haha and the last time I saw a mw she got out the scanner and took a few still pictures on the babies head to measure his head circumference and they could tell by that if he was coming earlier or not... apparently they could anyways but we'll see what happens. alot of aussies think they bloody know everything and it pings me off. i wanna come to nz to have my baby- but still get the $4000 baby bonus here. cheeky aye.
