Topic: Bernice Mene on Womans Weekly Posted: 28 April 2010 at 12:08pm |
Has anyone seen this week's Womans Weekly with Bernice Mene naked on the cover?
Linky
At the risk of getting slammed I think it's going a bit far! Not the pregnant belly so much but more the fact that she is completely naked. I think it would have looked nicer if her boobs were covered like they are in the inside pics. They are obviously just going for the shock factor to sell the mag so I can't believe she went along with it.

Hi,
I don't really care but I am guessing that some people will take offence to it and not buy the mag now.

I actually admire her for doing it. She didn't have to do it and she's a very intelligent woman, so could have easily said no.
I think good on her for showing off her fantastic preggy body.........wouldn't have got me doing that!
I also like NZWW because they ALWAYS have NZ people on the front cover. Unlike Woman's Day who nearly always have American celebrities and usually in situations where they are looking their worst. I buy NZWW just because of this (oh and they have better puzzles). each to their own though

I'm going to come across as a bit of a fuddy duddy but I think pregnancy photos should be kept private.
Don't get me wrong I them. I have one in a frame in my bedroom and I love that it reminds me of that special time.
But I don't think they should be on the cover of a magazine. It's not offensive just not necessary IYKWIM.
ETA: Having said that I looking at them on here.

no no, I read the bit next to the pic , it goes on about Kimberley Crossman and Kelly Swanson Roe's new baby , then mentions a 24 year old that has 15 kids

Meh! Its not like it hasn't been done before, good on her for doing it - pregnant women should be as proud of their bodies as the rest, and shouldn't have to hide away in a dark room for 9 months.

I thought she looked fantastic and good on her for doing it. In the article she mentions she doesn't think she'd have been able to do it with either of her first 2 pregnancies.
Plus you see worse on the front of other magazines.

Is it non-airbrushed, coz that's amazing!! I saw it and I was like wow, she's pregnant and still has a perfect body with no stretch marks or anything. Was a bit jealous tbh!
Good on her for her bravery... you wouldn't see me on the cover of a magazine in my 'delicate' condition, clothed or otherwise! But yea, for me, my pregnancy photos are going to be something personal... it is a personal, intimate time, it comes down to individual choice and what you are comfortable with. But it's no different to putting photos of new babies in magazines with their mum... in fact I think that's probably more exploitative. As much as we want to see the cute brand new babies, they have no say about appearing in a public forum.

Kelly... she didnt give borth to them, shes a foster mum, and thats how many kids shes looked after
as for Bernice.. I think its great! I like that shes showing people its not a 'bad thing to have a body change shape... if it helps other pregnant women be happy with their bodies, then I'm all for it! I recall YEARS ago Demi Moore did the same thing, but covered in body paint, and it looked awesome! I wish I had a body as nice as that to be bold enough to do photos like that... instead I did a shadow effect semi-nude photoshoot at home! (had a belly band over my boobs, and a skirt on)
Its also something really nice to look back on in years to come and see what you really looked like.. clothes alter the shape of your body, so its not your 'real' shape kwim?

Bit OTT for Womans Weekly,.... More for the big glossy mags which the stars do .
She looks great but not a cover I want to look at all the time & she is not someone I am overly interested in or seeing on the cover with no clothes.
I agree with the comments about the photos being more for private viewing.
Little_Red I agree she would look better with some draping on her to look more classy or different lighting, looks a little desperate to me.

Haven't read all the posts but I was more interested in the 24yo with 15 kids! WHAT!!
And IMO I think she looks really beautiful and it's a nice photo (the cover) although I am kinda shocked that she is nude on the cover, I don't feel that we have a lot of things like that here in NZ... IYGWIM?
