That's where I'm from originally too and lots of my friends have had babies from the same area.

Have you thought about where you want to have baby and what sort of birth you're aiming for? I know it's so hard to know in the early days but if you're thinking of a waterbirth or home birth you need to get a midwife who's experienced. Also some midwives only have access to certain hospitals eg. Middlemore or Akld.

I'll ask around my friends..

A couple of ladies in my coffee group are with Lesly Hinson & Suki (not sure of surname) based in Howick, and they rave about them - they are apparently open to whatever type of birth you want, and provide accupuncture etc to help you along the way - I wish I had gone with either of them myself! Also heard they are great afterwards, and will exceed the number of govt funded post-natal visits if reqd - eg problems with breastfeeding.

LOL Squoggs, she would be my first choice if I lived out that way too. Everyone says the same thing about her so she must get plenty of business. I don't think she goes to Akld though. Mind you, would you want to go all that way in labour, especially at 7.30am? Ouch!
