I got a few of those S26 gold pre prepared things for Matt to give Lily for night feeds. What I wanted to know is, because she's only having 100ml a time, is it safe to put the whole thing in a sterilized container in the fridge to use over a couple of feeds? or should I be chucking away the excess.

I'm not 100% sure as I didn't use the pre-prepared formula, just the powder which I don't re use anyway but so long as it's kept in the fridge and not being reheated I would say an opened one would be ok for 2 nights (how many mls are in each?)
We bought some formula powdered sachets to start with (to make sure DS would take it ok) and we poured the powder into a steralised container and just used however many scoops we needed from there as there was 250ml in a pack which was far too much back then

We used karicare ready formula in the hospital - it was ok in the fridge for 24 hours from opening as long as it hadnt been heated so yeah it should be ok in a sterilised container for the 24 hours
Id be inclined to put it in a sterilised bottle of 100 ml lots and maybe put a time and date on it so it dosent get confusing

Yep will be fine for 24hrs in the fridge once opened.

Our hospital told us to keep it for only 1 hour after opening and then chuck if not used... Might be worth checking with the company for details.

The company will always say chuck it as they are there to make money!  Each hospital will be different I guess but at Waikato the glass bottles of prepared formula are kept in the fridge for 24hrs once opened, it may be different for the cartons but I can't see it being an issue if you put it into sealed sterile bottles.

I think with the S26 Gold prepared, it actually says 48 hourson the carton, though I could be wrong as it's been about 15 months since I've used it.

FYI: I emailed Wyeth (the company that makes S26) because I am nosey. This was their reply:
We appreciate you writing to us with your enquiry. In regards to prepared formula, if it is not introduced to your baby immediately, it should be refrigerated as soon as possible. Refrigerated formula can be used within 24 hours and warmed up by standing the bottle in a warm water bath. You may like to decant a portion of the milk into another steilized bottle before feeding your little one. Formula left in the bottle after a feed should be discarded. It is important to remember that if prepared formula is not stored or used properly, they may harbour bacteria, which can potentially make your baby sick.
So there you go, now we all know
