Topic: Blakes Birth Story & Pic (bit long) Posted: 15 August 2006 at 10:00am |
On Tuesday night last week I had a show..thought nothing of it as apparently you can have them up to 3 or so weeks before bubs comes. So got up went to work and did the wages etc as normal. At some stage I went to the loo and stood up and my waters broke. Huge
Called Midwife who was a bit concerned and wanted to meet at the hospital. Told me to bring my bags!
I was examined and told my waters did not look they had broke. So they got an Obstetrician who did another check and as I sat up it all gushed out!! HA HA
They admitted me and put me on antibiotics so to not get infection. No one really said what was going to happen. Mark stayed the night and slept on the floor.
At 10am on the 10.08.06 Doc came in and said he wanted baby out by the end of the day and would be back in half and hour to start things going with gel!!! EEEk! Mark had gone home and the Midwife was not there. So anyway he came in and shoved some gel up there. Talk about hurt (boo hoo). They then put me in a Theater (nice lovely stark birthing room). Mark came up shortly afterwards with lots of treats and some nice music.
Anyway nothing happened with that. Contractions started and then stopped so onto the DRIP I went. I was doing really well and breathing through the contractions when the Doc came in and asked if it was a Bad Hurt – I sad No so they increased the drip. Which then set off the contractions boom boom boom!!
That’s when I got stuck into the gas…How weird is that stuff. Oh my God. One of you wrote a post about it on here a while back and while I was in labour that was one of the things I was thinking about LOL! SUCK ON THAT GAS KELLY!!!
I felt like I was there and could hear what was going on but everything was so delayed. I was so delirious I thought I had finshed and he was here 5 times!! Mark and my Grandma were great. Apaprently I screamed and the midwife told me off. I remember giving up at the end and saying I souldnt do it and get a Doc but got a stern talking to by all and got on with it. Took me about 50 minutes to push him out. OUCH!
So yea…all in all it was about 4 hours of Labour and was not THAT bad. Should I EVER do it again…I would have another epidural like I did when I was induced with Paige.

What a cute, handsome little guy!!!! I've done the last two pregnancies with just the gas, this time I'm asking for an epidural on the way through the doors (your birth story reminded me).

He was 6pd 10 born....and born at 35/3 weeks....
Mother Nature must have known he was going to be big if full term and decided to be nice!!
I was early with Paige too and had the same type of no contractions..blah blah scenario.
Paige loves him to bits..thinks he is cool!
