Hi girls,
My son is turning one this wednesday. We were thinking of going to the zoo on his actual birthday but it seems like it's going to be raining on that day so have been wondering where to take him now. Does anyone know of any indoor place in Auckland where we could take our little man (it will just be the family , so about 6-8 people)
Thanks a lot :)

butterfly creek

cant think of anywhere else that isnt outdoor. there is the usual chipminks and lollipops type stuff but not really that exciting for adults.

How about Kelly Tarltons? Or the Sky Tower? He might be a bit young to appreciate either but could be fun for him? I was also thinking Butterfly Creek but I am unsure if any of the attractions are indoors as I haven't been there.

Or if all else fails, a trip to Chipmunks or somewhere similar?

You could have a brunch somewhere, I've just listed a few kid/adult friendly places in Auckland.

Yes, you can have a birthday party at Windsor Cafe on the North Shore which has a playground plus indoor toys.

Personally I think it's nicer to have a party at home but we're all different!

ETA: I just saw that you are 39wks pregnant? Wow - no wonder you don't want too much fuss! If you haven't discovered Windsor Cafe it's definitely worth a look - you can relax and have adult time while the kids play and much nicer environment than Chipmunks - where you'd have to watch your 1yo alot more with all the hundreds of kids there etc.

If the weather is forecast for sun and showers I would go to butterfly creek too - I'm sure he'll love the butterflies and when it stops raining - popping outside to see the animals and go on the train!

Thank you all for your replies.
I like the idea of going to Kelly Tarlton as its indoors and we won;t have to worry about the weather.
We are actually having a party for him on saturday, but wanted to do something exciting on his actual birthday...
Hi Newlywed, im not pregnant again. I just dont know how to remove my old siggy, it was for my son when i was pregnant with him,, hehe..

I don't know any places in Auckland but when DS turned one I took him out for lunch on his birthday with a girlfriend and her daughter who was turning 1 the same week. We went for ("proper") chinese which C LOVES and then for a play on a playground. It was such a nice morning!
