Topic: babys outfit for going home from hospital Posted: 23 August 2006 at 4:05pm |
Hey everyone,
Just wondering ..
Im a bit confused. Im packing my bags for the hospital as i have not done so already. Typical, lol.
I have got an outfit to put Jaxon in to come home in but Im not sure if he will fit it or not. Would you put in another outfit just incase? Im not sure what sizes to take. I know he is going to weigh between 7.5-9 pound by scan done today. What if hes huge?? Im confused, lol. Im not too worried about anything else as the hospital provides nappies etc.

My friends baby was 9lbs 4 (4.3kgs), 52 cm long, and "newborn" size clothes were huge on her, and fitted her for about 6 weeks. So Im only gonna take that size!

Han was 9lbs 6oz and fitted 0000 (newborn). Actually they were still quite big. That size is pretty safe for going home from hospital.
Didn't fit her for too long afterwards tho

Some newborn stuff was good on Erin when she was born, but other stuff was a bit big - so I just gave up and chose her going home outfit based on what I thought was 'cute' LOL She was swamped ! See photo:
Ok, so you can't see the whole outfit (the yellow thing is a blanket), but check out the gigantic hat !

Maya was 9lb1oz 54cm and she went home in a sz0000 gown from Farmers. I did have one little newborn outfit I'd been given that didn't fit her at all, but the rest of the stuff was OK. I only bought the gown in 0000, the rest was 000 and was a bit on the big side but still OK.
I haven't bought any 0000 for the twins, am determined they will not be toooo small...

Wishful thinking Emma! If my monster was in 0000 for a little while then your twins will be... atleast it gives us something to buy for pressies!

I've got a 000 outfit though it is quite a smallish 000...with rollable sleeves etc
I'm acutally thinking of getting a few more NB sized things just in case I do need them though some people I've spoken to have said thier new babies hardly needed them...I'm so confused!!

I have found...Having Blake who was/is quite little that the BONDS range WONDERSUITS 0000 or 000 are the best. Nice and warm. Have the little bits on the hands you can fold over to stop bub scratching their faces and are nice and warm and wash well. They are not a fashion statement but are hugely practical and keep baby warm at this time of the year.NB size clothes are huge on most babies I think!!!
You get them from KMART. At the moment they are $11.99 each.

He he and this is Blake in NB clothes leaving hospital..The nurses looked at us like we were nuts ...what a dag...My friends who are both nannies came down from Auck and went shopping for little little clothes!!!
Definitely pack 0000 clothes! A ten pounder might fit 000 well!!! I guess it depends on the brand too Kel!!!

That's something we were told is that different brands can actually vary...ie..I noticed in T&T that their 000 was for 3-6 months were as most places I've gone thier 000 is for 0-3 months...it does not help with the confusion factor!

The Bonds stuff is tiny - their 000 is actually more of a 0000. But its soooo cute - I got a couple of gorgeous Bonds 2 piece sets last time I was in Oz, so tiny but so cute!

Bonds Wondersuits are the greatest thing!!! I had them for both boys. Back in the dark ages when I had Sean (1995) I had a friend send them over from Oz. Last year when I had Andrew I made the scary trek from the North Shore back to my old 'hood out west to get to KMart to get them.
I've found that Pumpkin Patch sizes are a lot bigger than the other brands, which is great for people like me who have babies that come out looking like 2 or 3 monthers, but not so great for those of you that have actual newborns. My advice is, grab an exchange card for anything small that you buy that you are unsure of (like Pumpkin Patch) so that you can exchange the size later on if need be. Remember also, that pretty much anything you put your new baby in will look huge for a week - and then won't fit two weeks later...the photos where they look like garden gnomes are so cute that it doesn't really matter if they look swamped.

remember that if the outfit is too big or too small - you can always ring up asomeone to bring you another one.

LOL Liz, we had to do that! I'd taken mostly 000 stuff for Josiah, and only had one 0000 thing with me... my friend did a trip home and got a whole lot of stuff so he had things to wear while we were in the birthing centre!
