Topic: ruptured ectopic pregnancy Posted: 10 November 2010 at 9:34pm |
Hi, has anyone else had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy? I searched the forums but couldn't find a thread on a ruptured ectopic....unless my spelling is off.
I came out of hospital yesterday afternoon after going for a emergency operation on Saturday night - I had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy with a lot of internal bleeding from the rupture - the pains started early Friday morning while driving to work, but I just kept on popping panadol and trying not to move much at work thinking it was it just really bad period pain or something, it wasn't untill I could hardly move and was in sooooo much pain on Saturday afternoon that I agreed to let my fiance take me to the A&E From there I went in a ambulance to the hospital.
My right fallopian tube has been removed.
I didn't know I was a pregnant (I was on the mini pill and had bleeding, however not my normal type period for the last two months, it was a lot lighter).
The "mass or tissue" as they refer to the baby was 4.7x4.6x5.5cm. Will know more when they have finished the tests in 4 weeks. But they also presumed will be around the two months due to the change in my period?
So from that date frame means we would have conceived on the night when we were in Canada at Niagara Falls where my partner proposed to me.....would have been our engagement baby
I have some time off work and trying to take it easy, but it is a difficult time. I can't lift Roman (my 20 month old) for 4 weeks - he is having trouble understanding why Mummy can't lift him the poor darling.

I first found this site months ago, and every now and then I go and light a cyber candle for my baby
Have a look and light one of your own for your precious bubba, there's something quite soothing about it xx

I haven't been thru this either just didn't want to read and run. I had a friend who did however and she lost a lot of blood and also had a tube removed. She also had one bub at the time who was 2 and has since had 3 more. Another friend of mine had an eptopic with complications and went on to have 2 kids after a few surgeries. She just needed early monitoring.
Take time to grieve and heal. You have been thru a huge ordeal and congrats on your engagement.

A friend of mine had a similarish experience just over a month ago. I know one thing that has really helped her a lot is just having one or two people that she is free to talk about it as much as she wants/needs. To remember that bubs was actually a baby on the way (for her and not just some random event). She had some pretty horrific treatment from some hospital staff and lots of things went a little hay-wire in the process.
I'm pretty sure she didn't loose a whole tube but lost part of a a tube but she was explaining to me about how miraculously the egg can still jump the gap in the tube (I think the gap has to be small enough though? dunno, i'm not that medically minded).
Just wanted you to know you are not alone and even though none of your friends may have experienced ectopic pregnancy they can still be there to cry/smile/laugh/weep with you.
