Reasons for decline in wet nappies

Last week the teachers at creche pointed out that Han had barely had any wet nappies the whole day. I had noticed too that there were heaps fewer than normal.

She didn't seem sick (was her usual rowdy self) and it didn't hurt at all when she did do wees. She wasn't dry the WHOLE day, but definitely a significant amount.

She seems to be wetting the normal amount after the weekend (like yesterday she was leaking up a storm. YAY.)

Has anyone noticed their toddler doing anything like this? Could it be the start of bladder control? (She's been using the toilet more and more lately - but not yesterday when she was her wettest) or related to teething? or can an infection be present without pain when wetting?

Not a major problem at present... but just would like to know some possible answers. Cheers!

I think you could be right. Also the older they get the less frequently they go but the bigger the wet. So she might not go for a few hours, but when she does go she will wee more if that makes sense?

Emma - not so much for the few days when it was really noticeable. Argh... could just be a fluke tho.

Well, I seriously hope we can do TT over summer. It all depends on Little Miss Toddly falling for the 'Big Girl' coercive techniques and not asserting the 'F' Off Mum' attitude that she usually has.

Well, creche made an effort to get more liquids into her when they saw that she wasn't wetting much.
But because they have to deal with a million kids at once, she never drinks as much there compared to at home. (The kid drinks like a fish!)

I'll just monitor it for the next few weeks and see what happens. Should have a report from creche this arvo if it is still happening.

I'm so jealous Nikki. we bought some undies for Jake and am planning on trying them out pretty soon. Have a new washing machine too! Jake loves stamps on the hand, so I'm going to try that for a while, and then when he gets the hang of it, give him a chart and he can get a new wiggles cd and dvd (am very very very sick of sailing all round the bloody world!!!!)

She has had undies for a while I couldn't resist buying them! They are so cute!

She has only recently figured out that they are like mummy's ones (though minus Angelina the Ballerina of course) so will use that as incentive.

We have had a sticker chart for quite a while and she fills it up and then I get slack about giving her stickers (especially because it is a 1/2 hour process in the choosing of said sticker)... geez I'm lazy!

I don't quite know if she'll understand the concept of receiving a reward at the end of a chart yet. She barely understands the reward thing in terms of something fairly immediate (like 'if you go and put your cup on the bench then you can have the biscuit'), let alone after a whole chart! So yeah, might wait until she is a little older for that one... but I'll get off my butt and figure something out. Will have a bit of time post-exam to work on it

Yes with pull-ups they don't feel wet so they don't usually bother.

I found that rewards didn't work so well with Hannah either, she didn't get it. It was far more beneficial to just go all excited and stuff. Maybe introduce rewards when she's a bit older if she seems to need a bit of incentive for consistency.
