Topic: Ergo sport or performance? Posted: 24 July 2012 at 9:43am |
Or Manduca?
Hi there, I am looking to buy a carrier and really am struggling to decide which is the best. I am only 5' 2" so need something suitable (not too bulky). The Ergo's seem like the way to go, but not sure about which one? Can anyone offer any advice?
I have also heard about the Manduca carrier - has anyone used one/got any comparisons?
Thanks

We love our manduca - only got it when DS was 12 months old so havent used it for a newborn. Ive 5ft 3, size 8-10 and DH is 6ft 3 and it fits us both really well and comfortably. DH still carrys our 2 1/2 yr old on his back in the MAnduca if we go bush walking etc,..but hes too heavy for me now!
I have a friend with an ergo which she loves,..but she could never wear her DD on her back as she found that the waist buckle dug into her hip and was too sore, so she didnt use the acrrier once her DD was too old to be carried at the front.

Thanks Kellz, that is really helpful. DS is 10 months old so I am a bit behind in jumping on the carrier wagon, but really do think it's time to invest in one!

I have both (won the manduca). Manduca is great for me (5'6 size 8), but DH can't wear it it just doesn't fit him right on the shoulder or the fit around waist/hip and height (he's 6ft, medium build), so he uses the Ergo - front and backpack. I like the Ergo too - really comfy as there's more support holding up the baby, so less strain on my back. Ergo seems to have more room in it. Manduca is snug. Our little man seems to like either or. I think you can rent them through a few places to try them out before you buy.

and we have the Ergo Performance...I think the only real difference was the fabric weight and some padding (could be wrong)

Cheeky Cherubs used to hire Maduca's out for trial, not sure if they still do, cant see it on their website, but they still sell them.

I have the ergo sport and found it really good (I'm 5'4). I didn't use the back carry as couldn't do it myself but would you the front or hip carry with no problems. Ds is now 20months old and doesn't like being it anymore, hasn't for a few months now. He physically tries to push out of it. But it was really good.
