Yep. Lots of other causes. I have no idea about specifics but plenty of women spot during the first semester.

If it is bright red and lots of it (as you probably already know) that's when I'd get really concerned.

Or give midwife a call for reassurance.

it could be from a lot of things. Lots of people have mild to major bleeding especially during early stages of pregnancy and its all ok. if its only pink then its probably not fresh blood which is bright red if that makes any sense. if your still having cramps or really that worried then ask your midwife to arrange an early scan but try not to stress cos that wont help and Im sure it will be fine. Bleeding during pregnancy does not automatically mean miscarriage, keep that in mind.

I second what everyone else has said so far, but I also think that if you were able to reach in and check your cervix it may have been a natural reaction that some of the mucus came away. If it wasn't bright red blood I wouldn't panic, but for peace of mind I would get it checked out. I am still sure that both you and bubs will be fine

I had similar and mine was from a UTI early on...and then antibiotics caused thrush (ugh!) and some small tears as a result so same deal....
Hope yours is nothing too...she says "nothing" now like she didnt stress out over it!

^^^Same as everyone else has said.
Try not to freak yourself out, and if you can't help it then make an appt with your gp or midwife just for reassurance sake. (thats what I did)
I had cramps all the way through my first 12 weeks, some quite severe in the first few weeks too, apparently they can be worse in second and subsequent pregnancies as the muscles are 're-stretching'.
All the best!

I had cramps and then major bleeding (gushing...ick). then five months later had Taine. nothing to worry about, but once again, if it will ease your mind, get it checked.

Yes I never had cramps until after my first bubba so cramps and pinky bleeding is probably still implantation at your stage. Just give your m/w a call, that's what she's for, and then you can rest easy after that

My cramps arnt too bad, with my son i ended up in hospital with them as they were so severe but i only notice these when i sit down and think about it but thats just what im doing!! and making myself go nutts!!!
I feel like total crap thia morning - im comming down with the flu, my son is sick, i have MS and i cant even take my pregnancy vitamins because i keep on bringing them back up!! im not sad about that though because my boobs are sore again also and i was adding to the hysteria last night because my boobs wernt as sore and i didnt feel tired but this morning it is all back with evengence (good i must say )

I had a scan last week and we saw a healthy bubs with a good heartbeat but it only eased the mind for a few days

I have a MW appointment on tuesday too so i could ask then.

stop playing with your cervix...

there is nothing you can do at the moment so leave it alone.

Hey, sorry you are freaking out. Easy to do huh??? I can't help you with the cervix thing (as I have no idea!!!) but I had browny pinky discharge for most of my first trimester with a couple of episodes of red blood. I also get this coloured discharge for a few days before my period is due. mw said it was just old blood coming away and some woman have it right through their pregnancy. Easier said than done, I know, but please try and relax, especially if you aren't feeling well (which by the way is a good sign!!) Take care.

I had brown gunky spotting at 9 weeks after we BDed (needless to say that was the last action Willie got for a good while!) and freaked out big time and made the midwife do a scan and everything was all good. But I vividly remember how terrified I was even tho it was literally only a few spots of mucousy stuff.

But I second what gsmum said - leave your cervix alone! You probably just irritated it a little bit, but you don't want to risk causing an infection or anything by poking around down there, and all it will do is make you crazy!

I had mild bleeding at 8 weeks, and then mild bleeding at 10 weeks and a major bleeding at 18 weeks. Every time I thought I was loosing Zaara....but here she is healthy, happy and a very stubborn 1 year old!

Please dont worry!! I am sure all will be well!

I know how you feel right now....ask your midwife to have another scan!! You will feel better after!

Will you be getting another scan at 12 weeks? It may help to have that to look forward to.

All your symptoms are sounding *great* even though I'm sure they don't feel so exciting Just relax and enjoy the pregnancy

I'm probably the last person to give advise right now, but if you are at all worried, I would contact your midiwfe or GP and demand an emergency scan.

I went to my GP Tuesday to ask for one simply based on intuition, and on tiny amounts of pink/red spotting in my CM at the end of each day for a week.  I mean really tiny.  When my GP wrote out the form for the scan, she told me she wasn't worried and would make it sound worse than it was just so I could get seen.  I only had the scan for peace of mind.

I got my scan, and as you've probably read by now had the worst news possible, which I really wasn't expecting.  I had a D&C yesterday.

What I've learnt from it, is trust your instincts.  There is most likely absolutely nothing wrong, but if something in your head is screaming out at you to do something, then listen.

Sorry if this comes across as scary or blunt, that truly isn't my intention.  I really doubt there is anything wrong with your baby.  S/he is most likely flipping around in there having a ball of a time! lol
