Topic: How Blinking Rude is this???? Posted: 27 December 2006 at 8:54pm |
Ok, well the family dramas have well and truely started in the lead up to Dad's service. A littel background info here... My family are very um, how to say it nicely "blue collar working class" oh, be buggered i'll just say how I feel, WHITE TRASH. That is all well, and good, I'm well used to them now. They (my brothers) are both very self centred, and both have huge chips on their shoulders bout people like myself, who seem to have a "better life" than them, because the world obviously owes them somthing. Now I am the "black sheep" of our family, because I have #1 a tertiary (sp?) education, #2 Decent well paid job #3 have a mortgage #4 a partner with ambition and own buisness #5 drive a late late model car that is both waranted and registered (and insured...)#5 don't hate people who are "better off" than myself. Anyhow. It would seem that in their eyes, if you have a nice home and drive a new car and wear gold jewellery (this has been mentioned time and again, apparently only snobs wear gold)then you are rich and don't mind your family landing on top of you year after year for a free holiday for a week every summer without contributing so much as a bottle of milk.... anyhow, I digress. One of my bros wasnt going to be able to make it up for dad's funeral, becasue he couldn't afford it (although the fact that Dad has been dying for 2 years and he has had PLENTY of warning about it seems to have escaped him ) so we offered him a bed here and a tank of gas to help out. no worries, as this is the brother who dosen't land on us for free hols every year. ANYHOW, he turns up todau withhis partner and their 4 year old, and announces Oh yeah he has chicken pox and we only just found out this afternoon. The kid has the spots, and must have been sick leading up to it. So my rant is(among other things) WHO IN THE BLINKING HELL DOSEN'T KNOW THEIR KID HAS CHICKEN POX WHEN THEY HAVE THE SCABS. and WHO IN THE BLINKING HELL WOULD EXPECT TO BE ABLE TO STAY WITH WOMAN 5 WEEKS OFF HAVING A BABY WITH A TODDLER WHO HASN'T HAD THE CHICKEN POX WHEN THEIR KID HAS THEM?????????????? They couldn't see why I was annoyed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My midwife said not such a problem for me, but the 3 week incubation period would mean that Jake is just coming out in blisters and still infectious right at a time that would be unsafe for my baby. HOW BLOODY IGNORANT!!!!!!!
RANT RANT RANT.
next rant will be how my mother hit the roof becaue my friends have been sending me flowers and she hasn't recieved any, and I tried to give her some of mine.

Did I miss something here? I knew your father was sick but I didnt know he had passed away. Sorry to hear that.
And yep I would be sooo annoyed if someone knowingly exposed me to chicken pox or anything like that. They could have at least checked with you first

No, she means shingles. They come from the same virus and tend to be what people get when they have previously had chicken pox. shingles
They are horrible and extremely painful and I really, really hope that you don't get them! ( i haven't had them myself - I am one of the very few that have had chicken pox more than once, to be honest that is better than shingles from what I have seen with those that have it.

Oh I thought only old people got shingles ... I was just confused by the stress-related comment.
Just reading that link though, quote: "You cannot do much to avoid shingles. It is not caught from contact with someone with shingles or with chickenpox."
Paraphrased, you won't get shingles from being in contact with him, but if you ever do get shingles you run the risk of passing chicken pox to someone who hasn't had it.

Annie how rude rude rude of your family and brother, how ignorant and stupid can they be.. surely some other family members can accomodate them somwhere. Sucks all of this is on you when you should be laxing out and preparing for bub's arrival.
My ex-brother-in-law got shingles really bad on his ears and face and didn't realise, just thought it was cos he'd been out working in the hot sun and got blisters.. left it too late to get treatment and damamged the nerves in one side of his face.. now has bells palsy where one side of his face looked kinda like he had a stroke for a while there..cos he had no feeling in it, getting better now though 9 yrs later.
here's hoping it is all over soon and your family can leave you to enjoy your new baby in peace.

Thanks guys. The last freeloader left yesterday, after eating all of mums food, and not buying her a damn thing to replace any of it, leaving her with a force factor 5 hurricane of 2 spolit kids mess, and insisting that having 2 photos reprinted and shouting hot chips for tea one night was "contirbuting" to the costs of the funeral enough, when I asked if he could please buy some beer to shout at the after match (a dozen, i asked him to buy..) *sigh* I could go on and on and on, but I have been for days, now.
Am hoping Jake dosn't get the pox. Had a text from that brother last night, telling me that they are expecting another baby, only just found out yesterday. Hope that the pox didn't effect her...
