Topic: My child is bizarre but in a good way! Posted: 11 January 2007 at 10:29am |
Ok im having some feeding issues, she will drink her milk eat her veges in fact LOVES her veges but HATES fruit!!!
Just wondering is the fruit as important as the veges? And is there anything else i can give her for breakfast instead of fruit. I can substitute fruit with pieces in her fresh food feeder so thats not a problem its just breakfast i need to work out
Thanks ladies ur the best

mikey never used to eat fruit either jess, in fact if i tried to feed it to him he'd gag and sometimes even throw up. i just gave it a miss for a while and then tried it again later and now he loves it. maybe it just takes a bit to get used to.

You are right...baby porriage and cereal does have both Soy and Skim milk powder....
However Baby rice does not, it has the following: Apple Puree, Ground Rice, Veg oil, Vitamin C, Antioxidant (Rosemary Extracts, Minerals (Iron).
May be you can try that and just add a bid more Fruit puree in it!

well when mikey first started solids he wasn't eating it for breakfast and then when he started having breakfast he was old enough for crushed weetbix with a bit of warm water and i just mashed some banana or stewed apple into that and then he started to like fruit.

Yap most super markets have them. Its 4 - 6 months watties and Farex in blue pack...Cant miss it! I still give Zaara baby cereal 9-10 month stuff, as she is not too keen about other cereals. I dont see why not??
Let us know who she likes her rice cereal!

and you could always try mixing a little bit of fruit with her veges if you're worried that she doesn't eat it.

Hey Jess, maybe just use a small amount of fruit for the Losec (like 1tsp) and then whatever else you can cram in like baby rice or custard (make it with powder and your formula ). Have you looked into a soy, dairy and gluten free bread (I think they make crepes or naan in New World like that) or rice cracker yet?
If you are worried that she is getting a little bunged up with the lack of fruit then just give her a little corn

Just leave fruit for a little bit and come back to it, considering she's only 6mos so not a biggie for a couple of months yet?

She needs an acidic food to have the Losec with or it isn't as effective

Andrew went through a stage like that and I mixed the rice and friut together and it went down fine. Hopefully you can source some that will fit with Ella G's diet requirements.
You could try golden circle stuff. They have stuff for babies that can't have dairy or soy. They are purple labels. Have a look at their website goldencircle.com.au to see what they have.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

The baby rice didnt go down well at all. Basically told me where to shove that i had to resort to a few force fed teaspoons of pears for her losec. She ate maybe half a tin of them which she used to eat a whole one. I hope its only a phase
