Topic: How much do you pay for the doctor? Posted: 02 July 2007 at 10:47am |
Had to take Micheal to the doctors today he's 10 and had to pay $24-00 with CSC!!
Also found out that when Jayden turns 6 he will be $24-00 as well!!
We pay $37-00 per visit with CSC and Abby is $6-00 until she turns three then she's $12-00.
This makes me so flipping when Micheal was a baby under 6's were free and up until 18 were like $10-00.
How the heck do low income families afford this???
Is this the norm for most medical centres. Thought it would be interesting to see how much the cost varies as according to the government the average cost for an adult is $25-00!

Wow that is expensive. We dont have a CSC card and we pay $15 in a normal day. Weekend $22 I think. With CSC its even cheeper. I think my husband pays $10 his docs.
I would change docs if I were you.

Hehe my doc's $55 without a CSC for adults! Luckily, my mum still gets the bills sent to her house (has been my doc since I was 2), so unless she brings it up I just assume she's paid it hehe

For me to go to doc - it $57, we don't have a csc but am in the process of sorting that out.
Its sooo expensive and down here we have radio commercials to say go to your GP's rather than going to A&E - but its no wonder people go to A&E when its so expensive to go to the doc!!!!
Am in the process of looking for another Doctor too, and also wonder how low income families cope with the costs!

Our doctors are part of a PHO so hubbie, Conor and I pay $15 (before Conor turned 12 we paid $10 for him). Nyah is free until she is 6.
All of our prescriptions are $3, and if we need to use an after hours clinic we go to White Cross (Ascot) and pay the same amount, as they are all part of the PHO also.
We don't have a CSC either.

We have the same thing here, but last time I took my mother to the after hours surgery after 11-00pm they charged her $98-00 that was three years ago and she had a CSC. So there's no way most people can afford that hence they have to go to the A&E department!

Ha speak of the devil just got a letter from Labour stating that all doctors fees for 25-44 year olds are going down and most fees should drop from $50 to $25! Rang our doctors and ours are going down from $37 to $35.
If you ask me these prices should be regulated our doctors surgery belong to Pegasus health so technically it should be cheaper!

we pay nothing for the boys - unless on a saturday $7. I pay $25 for me, and $3 for prescriptions. WE have a csc. my doctor is fabulous and usually writes me two prescriptions for my asthma medication - one pre-dated three months later, so I don't have to come in again. She will also just write a script every second month if I ask. Lovely doctor! probably illegal as hell to do that, but it makes my life so much easier.

for me its $35. Josh (14) $18 (perscriptions $3 although hes got a CSC) Brooke is $10 and Rhyley is free till hes 6. We earn too much for a csc so we have to pay full price so will be good if it goes down - at least percription should go down.

It all depends where you live and if your doctors is under the government scheme.
When we were in Tauranga we had to pay almost $50 each for me and DH and $10 for Bay but here we pay $15 each and Bay is free.

I have to pay $58.00 per visit and for Ollie it costs me $5.00. I think it is a serious rip off considering you are only in for around 5-10 minutes!

I pay $27 as i'm a student with a CSC and DH is $30. Andrew and Josh are free. For afterhours (as ours is open till 9pm) its an additional $10 for me and DH and $5 for the little ones. I think my mum and dad have scored the best deal it was costing them $58 to see their dr and now $28 with the new thing that labour have brought in. I am yet to see what we will be charge now with the changes but I think from memory it will $24 for DH and $20 for me.

We are in central auckland, and absolutley LOVE our GP, so wont change even if prices keep going up. At the moment its $57 for me and DH, and it will be $5 for under 6, then $30 for 6-17 year olds.
He is the best GP that I have ever had (have been with him for nearly 10 years now)....even when we were in the UK we used to email him and he would give advise (free) by email!! Wonderful!
We dont have CSCs but have health insurance, so at least get some of it back.
