I could start a number of different posts about all my previous pregnancies and wonderful children! BUT last year I had a total removal of my thyroid due to Hypothyroidism and a goitre. We lost a baby late last year, and sad as it was I knew through gut instinct that it was due to my thyroid. It wasn't until reading research AFTER that I was right and was poorly managed. Ok, so we pregnant again, and I am interested to hear from anyone else who has gone on to have children after thyroid removal? I am under the care of a specialist and feel looked after but I am not getting my questions answered. Yes I am scaring myself somewhat by 'googling' things but I have learnt alot more through that than anything else!

I have an underactive thyroid and am on levothyroxine medication for it, I just have to have blood test regularly during this pregnancy to ensure everything is functioning ok. I ended up on medication about 4 months after my daughter was born after getting (in hinesight) quite sick. Bit different to you I realise.

But I have a friend who had her thyroid removed about 5years ago and has just given birth to her second healthly baby last week. She and both her babies have kept great health during and after pregnancy. I know she has to keep a close eye on her bloods and medication (levothyroxine) during and after pregnancy and she has a specialist, but other than that I think it is a pretty normal pregnancy. I would ask her but she is a little busy at the mo! When I do see her if I get a chance I will ask her if she has had any other special care.
