Hi Everyone

Me and my partner are flying up to wellington in June for 2 weeks, we will be taking our baby with us aswell. We havnt been to wellington before and wont be taking a car so will have to walk or taxi places, my partner is going up for a course so me and bubs will mainly go for walks and stay in the hotel, im just wondering if anyone can tell me how accessible it is to walk to the supermarkets and shops ? I dont know how big lower hutt is, im guessing very big but with a newborn as soon as we arrive in wellington and get to lower hutt ill have to find a supermarket to get some things from. If anyone can give me any advice on anything in lower hutt or about travelling with a newborn i would really appreciate it.

Also im abit worried as to how our baby will cope on the plane, will they let me take his milk formula tin and a carry bag on the plane with us aswell ?

Where are you staying? Queensgate is the shopping centre in Lower Hutt and it has pretty much everything.

Wellington itself is pretty easy to get around on foot - you can get the airport flyer bus from outside Lower Hutt that takes you direct into Lambton Quay and back it only stops once in Petone.

What Caliandjack said pretty much.

Queensgate is the mall, it has a supermarket there, a Warehouse, numerous cafes, shops, etc.

You can take the Airport flyer bus from the airport to Lower hutt and back. But I'm pretty sure it's a tad expensive??

You can get a day pass for around $10 which allows you to travel on public transport all day between 9 and 3. The bus goes all the way to Courtney Place saves having to negotiate trains as well.

Im not too sure exactly where we are staying, my partner is going to a course run by Opus International training centre in lower hutt, im not too sure where that is just yet, but im sure my partner's work is paying for transport from the airport to lower hutt but it's just with having a newborn i wanted to check that things like a supermarket was accessible so we could get things we needed

I first took DD on a plane (well, 2 planes) when she was 8-9 weeks old. It was a breeze! She BF and then fell asleep on the boob- surely the same is possible if you a FF'ing. Try and organise her so she is ready to be fed at take off time. I found taking as little as possible on the plane was easiest (I was by myself). SO I would take formula sachets or the amount you need in a we container.

Lower Hutt is a pretty big city with 5 large supermarkets so I'm sure you'll be fine. Depends where you are staying though of course.   You will probably be in Pharazyn Street which is where the biggest contingent of motels is and is just over the bridge from the main town centre and three supermarkets, probably a 15 minute walk. The best place to stay would be the Angus Inn because it is directly across the road from Queensgate and everything you would need.

There are buses all around lower hutt that stop right out side queensgate shopping mall.

there is shops galore, supermarkets etc.

It wouldnt really be that hard to get around.

If you havent found accommodation, The Angus Inn is right across from Queensgate :D
