Topic: Bouncer vs Rocker Posted: 06 May 2010 at 7:19pm |
We are looking at buying either a bouncer or a rocker for bubs.
For those that have them, why did you chose one over the other??

We got a rocker, dunno why as we got it for #1. Was good for her but FABULOUS for #2 he basically lived in it. He was refluxy & it was raised up & I could sit down & rock him to sleep with my foot. I used to rock him through sleep cycles as well. I guess I used it in place of a hammock. It was easy to take places as well.

We have both and Jackson likes both. Although now, he likes the rocker more cos he can rock it. He doesnt get much time in them and didnt when he was NB either but they were great to have when we couldnt hold him. I bought them both off Ebay at bargin prices

Thanks for the comments. That's interesting about the rockerRrianna and Jackson being able to rock it. That was one reason I was steering towards the bouncer as I had thought that bubs could move them more themselves

He couldnt rock it when he was younger, he only been able to do it since about 4 or 5 months old. And since then he loves to rock it Thats one of the reasons we bought both cos the bouncer was better at first

We have both. We were given a rocker for my baby shower and Mum bought us a bouncer (Baby Bjorn) when she came over when C was a couple of months old.
I didn't like the rocker coz C seemed way too small for it and it looked uncomfortable (he was 8 weeks early though!). The bouncer seemed to hold him at a better angle and he loved being more upright after a feed It REALLY helped with his reflux.
This time I will probably keep one downstairs and one upstairs. Hopefully I will have a full term baby so the size thing won't be so weird.

We got a bouncer for Emily (didn't know about rockers then) and are using the bouncer again for Samantha which she loves to sit in after a feed because for some reason it helps her poop! Samantha's not really much of a rocky baby anyway, and when I tried her in a friend's rocker she hated it. Do you know anyone with a bouncer or rocker that you could borrow to try first?
Going off topic - just want to say congrats kiwisj! Fingers crossed for you the next baby is full term. My second was, in fact 3 days overdue!

Sounds like trying them out might be the way to go. I only knew about bouncers too (my Mum talks about using them when we were babies) and then we were out shopping and saw the rockers sitting alongside them.

We had a bouncer for the older kids when they were newbies. But now we have a swing, which is fantastic, it's more secure I think, and being a busy house with the older kids doing older kid stuff I prefer to have baby higher off the ground, can't wait to use it again!
