Topic: Middle-of-the-night vomiting :( Posted: 18 May 2010 at 8:05am |
TMI to follow"
OK, so my 'morning' sickness (ha!) has taken a new interesting turn...and now I am vomiting in the middle of the night . I don't even make it out of bed...I wake up, sometimes need to go to the loo (so get up slowly and go) but regardless of whether I get up or not, just waking up seems enough to trigger feeling very sick and then I barely have time to reach for my bowl before.......
WTF??? I have kept the vomiting under control the last 2 weeks since leaving hospital and just cope with feeling seedy much of the time. I was on 3 anti nausea drugs per day- every 8 hours but I have recently tried to drop the evening one...with these results
I REALLY hate taking drugs whilst pg but should I go back to taking the night one or do you think this'll all stop quite soon?? I do often feel better after being sick. I've tried keeping a banana next to the bed to tuck into when I wake as it sometimes feels like extreme hunger....but it doesn't seem to matter if I eat or not.
Those of you who have had these type of 'ms'.... how long did you take drugs for, did you wean yourself gradually as you started getting along in your pg and feeling better or what? I"m over it all so much already!

...hmm...I expect there'll not be a rule for this....hopefully you'll just be able to experiment with what is right for you. Sounds like you could still do with the night time dose...?
I had my some of my worst MS through the night too - and still do now (33weeks). Though now it's at about 4 or 5am am and only a little bit through until 7am...rather than every 20 minutes from 1am until 6pm! (haha, no wonder I felt so retched!!)...
Anyway - with meds, I'm still taking one pill on the days I need it (ie on 3 occasions last week). I reduced from needing it 3x per day at about 15 or 16 weeks...
Hang in there....MS sucks!

You poor thing... I hope it gets better for you soon xx I had MS until 14 weeks... so fingers crossed you are the same!
I used sea bands and they helped me through the night. i woke up feeling the same but never vomited- felt like extreme hunger kind of. Perhaps it is lack of food.. does it happen at the same time approx? perhaps you could set your alarm for an hour prior and have the banana and a pill?
I took metoclopromide and it was fantastic- someitmes had to take it in the middle of the night.
the scans showinng the little bean make the ms all worthwhile! xxx

Hi, I'm still getting ms, with my second preg it lasted til 20wks, I really hope that's not the case this time! I haven't taken any pills for it, but I do find having something to eat right before I go to bed helps. Dry toast or "milk biscuits" which are in the health supplements section of supermarket, usually bottom shelf. They're light on your tummy and I think low g.i. which helps. Fingers crossed for you that you're almost at the end of your ms, =)

I would take the evening pill. I was on anti nausea meds for most of the pregnancy- I had a month off them when I was around 5 months pregnant, but then had to go back on them again until I was 8 months. I had to wean myself off them gradually and at the end only needed to take just the 1 in the morning.
fx it doesn't last that long for you.... it is definitely not nice having MS while looking after another child.

I'm nearly 25 weeks and still need to take 3 anti-nausea tabs a day and even then I still vomit.I did try cutting back the night one and ended up back in hospital again.
Hope it eases up for you soon. This is my second pregnancy with hyperemisis and will definately be my last!

Hey hun, I gave up on Anti Nausea pills around 19 weeks when I was still throwing up 2-3 times a day even on them, I was on Maxalon and never tried any other kind except the blackmores etc, nothing worked for me AT ALL, I just had to get through it, I reallly hope that it eases soon and you don't end up with it your whole pregnancy like me *HUGS*
