Hi
Am hoping that someone who lives in Dunedin or who knows the area well will be able to answer this question or help me out.
My husband possibly has a good job opportunity in Dunedin. It is closer to our families and we have always thought we would like to eventually move there for this reason. HOWEVER now that it is more real we are giving it lots of serious thought. I like the antenatal group I have here and the activities there are for Mums, Dads etc during the week.
Can someone tell me what kind of things there are for Mums and their babies to do during the week in Dunedin. eg are there buggy fit classes, or Jymbaroo (sp) or anything like that?

Hi Lu
Thanks heaps for replying. It really makes a difference to me knowing that there will be activities I can do that will help me to meet people and other Mums etc if we do move.
My wee boy Ollie is three months old and I am just starting to build some good friendships with the girls in my antenatal group etc and also finding more and more things to get out and do during the day. I was just worried about the timing for moving (I don't want to be at home all day lonely) so it is great to know that there will be plenty of things to get out and do.
Thanks so much.
Oh, where abouts are the buggy fit classes - is it through one of the gyms?

This isn't a class or anything, but you can do cool walks through the Botanic Gardens and visit the birds I used to do it sans child in my Uni days

Hi Tracey,

The things like Mainly Music and other playgroups and so on are usually a thing that you would book in to or go to regularly.

If it's a nice day then the gardens are lovely. They give free duck food away at the information centre and my little ones LOVE feeding the ducks at the pond. There are also birds and things up the top of the gardens. The gardens cafe is really baby friendly as well.

If you haven't seen the Tropical Butterflies at the Museum, that is a must. Totally awesome and my babies love love love that as well. Otherwise there is the usual things like chipmunks. I think the Mums and Bubs session at the movies is next Wednesday, if you are around then.

If you want to meet the OhBaby Dunedin mummies, we usually meet at the Gardens Cafe at 1pm on Wednesdays. But I'm sure if you get bored or are not sure what to do during the week, you could PM any of us and we would love to have a cuppa and playdate!

Katie, there is no jymbaroo but there are stroller walking groups. There are always groups like mainly music and parents centre and plunket playgroups, and things. If all else fails come hang with us OhBaby mummies

Hi All
Just a quick note to say huge thanks to everyone who gave me tips on places to go in Dunedin with bubs last week, made such a difference.

I had a great time loved the museum as it was really easy to get round with stroller and had great facilities. Butterflies were cool and daniel loved the dinosaur in the play area downstairs.

We didnt arrive till Wed after lunch so missed the movie but fitted in the gardens and wandered round the shops and the university grounds on another day as Steven was playing at the brass band contest.

Thanks again ladies :-)

Tracey

Katie, there are also mum and bubs Pilates classes you can do, and various playgroups you can attend.
And its already been said, but I second the group of Ohbaby Dunedin mummies - we're a pretty friendly lot and all ready for a cuppa and meetup whenever!
