Topic: pink stains on bibs Posted: 19 July 2009 at 3:37pm |
All Floyds bibs have yucky pink stains on them. I soaked them in Home Brand nappy wash (like nappy san) but it didnt seem to help.
First question..what is causing them to turn pink? he is a mixture of formula fed and EBM fed, he is very spilly and is on Losec. I dont notice the pink till I go to put them in the washing (they dont go pink right away)
Second question...any ideas on how I can get the stains out

I can't remember what our bibs looked like pre-solids but I guess it must be the milk (or Losec) staining it.... anyone else know?
Direct sunlight works wonders - though it's not very strong at this time of year (if you get it at all )
And if nappy san doesn't work chlorine bleach is my last resort (obviously if the bibs are coloured it'll bleach that out as well, but it works great on whites).

Our bibs were exactly the same and I never found anything that would remove it unfortunately. Although I must admit I never went as far as bleach - just gave up in the end! It did seem to stop once Ollie started on solids.

Have you tried a stain remover? Dont really like using it on Jakes things but occassionally I have had to when the sun isnt shining and he has poo stains on his clothes. I just put them on an extra rinse cycle. Probably dont need to but it makes me feel better.

We had the pink stains too and never managed to get rid of them without a good dose of sun so I guess what till the good strong summer sun comes out.

I had the same issue and only found if I soaked them in nappy san straight away did I manage to spare a few from the stains. One of my boys were on Omeprazole so the medicine may be the cause - so annoying hay!
I got some of the bright blue & navy blue mum2mum bandana bibs and they survived without any stains if you feel like buying more (I think the darker/brighter the better). They were great though for going to friends houses with them on as they stayed looking nice for ages rather then those terrible pink stains.

Bumping, has anyone found that the sun works well, or found anything else that gets the stains out?

Nope Most of our bibs have the pink stains on them. I have put it down to the formula, because we don't have any of the other stuff that we use. It's horrible though!!

I've got this too, just on my light colpured mum2mum bibs. I've got them soaking in a bucket of nappysan at the moment and will try to get them in the sun (if we get any).
Cooper has only just gone onto losec so its not from that, he is super spewy so I just put it down to all that milk and stomach acid.
Hmmm wonder soap, Mum swears by that too, if I can't get it out I'll passthem onto her to sort for me
