Topic: Migrain & numbness??? Posted: 22 June 2010 at 11:07am |
omg i had the worst night ever last night!!
has this happened to anyone else? iv been reading that its reasonably common but anyone know what i can do about it or prevent it???
woke up at 5:30am and got up to pee, so did DH, by the time I got back to bed i have a massive headache that wouldnt go away no matter what i did, within 20mins after this my left hand got pins and needles and went numb....about 5 mins after this my right hand did also....ok freaking out now so we got up to google or prepare to call healthline or something...while at the computer my top lip then also when numb and i burst out crying....so a total of 30mins after peeing i had the worst headache iv had in my life, 2 numb hands and a numb top lip!!!
as we read more the numbness started to fade and about 10mins later had faded away and was just left with the headache...so went back to bed, charlotte now was kicking like mad, and i started having cramps sort of like the stretching ones and then all of a sudden she stopped moving and NOTHING...noo movement at all for the next 30mins so im freaking again so got my doppler out and took another 20mins to find her, she was up higher than normal and on a very funny angle but we found her!! now convinced she must be ok I somehow managed to fall asleep through the pain.
MIL comes and tells me that it might be BP related, glad i have mw tomorrow!!! and that her mother had a dream about me and charlotte and that she woke up screaming ":NO its too early, its too early" so yeah...feeling a lil unsettled now lol
thanks ladies
edited to add:
BP was 98/62 two weeks ago and iv also had eye twitching for the last week really bad...not sure whats going on....

I suffer migraines normally and had some whilst pregnant, my mw said it was fine for me to continue taking voltaren tablets which is what I normally take for them.
I still felt a bit bad about taking it so the following times I just tried to sleep it off.
Powerade is good for migraines though because it thins the blood so helps with the pulsating bits!
Hth... If you can visit your gp they will be able to prescribe you something for them...
I had some numbness in my hands, not sure what caused it as never bothered to ask.

Nic - eye twitching, headaches and pins and needles can be caused by dehydration and fatigue...

mixing with all my BH lately, cramping, and all the rest i really worry that in a few weeks i might end up in early labour

I got my first ever migraine when I was pregnant with my DD.
Like you, it came on very suddenly and was the most intense headache I'd ever had up until that point, I was in my second tri as well.
Called my MW who sent me home to bed and came around to check my BP (came on while I was at work)
I didn't experience the numbness that you had, but that can be a common symptom of migraines. Mine was accompanied by visual disturbance and nausea.
Oh my BP was fine btw, it was 'just' a migraine and I didn't get another throughout that pregnancy.
Sadly I have had them on occasion ever since though!
I hope you're feeling better now and I agree, it is worth giving your midwife a call or text just to run it by her and see if she thinks it is worth checking you over JIC.

Haven't read all the replies but i'll tell you what happened to me last year when I was UTD with Ty.
At 37 weeks, I was watching Youtube clips with DH , and he kept fast forwarding them , so I said "stop fast forwarding the frigging thing " at least thats what was in my MIND
what came out was "their are monkeys on the roof "
seriously .
I tried 4 times to speak properly then my whole left side went numb and my vision went blurry , then I got a headache .
DH called the ambulance, we went to the hospital where they monitered me over night and said it was probably a TIA , they gave me an MRI and checked for blood clots , there were none , thankgod .
But he said its incredibly common during pregnancy , so if you do get any strange symptoms and just don't feel right , then call your MW or the dr , or if its really serious, the hospital , right away .
It was a really scary experience .
