Im wanting to get a couple (for myself and for DH) but not sure whether they will deliver to NZ or not...some of the sites arent clear on that but seem to want to take your order anyways! UGH!
The NZ sites dont have the overseas mags...

Hey Bombshell, I get heaps of overseas mags, but I've never ordered them through Amazon. I usually go to the mag's website and order that way (if they don't accept overseas orders on their website, they usually have an email address where you can get in touch to ask for info). Subscription rates are usually what they've advertised, plus about $20 to $30 for postage (US mags, at least). I've never had a problem with them arriving, although they are typically a month to two months late. They usually come through a mail clearinghouse in Europe. Hope that helps! Which titles are you thinking of getting?

Amazon is great, they are faster at delivery than half the new zealand sites I've used in the past.

yeah have used amazon for books but never for mags and in trying to order a parenting one and a few womens ones i loved when in usa and thought would be good for while on leave they wont ship to nz....bugger!!! basically to get 4 - 5 mags for 1 year through them is cheaper than buying one mag here for a year from whitcoulls etc...

might get family to get them sent to them and then on ship to me i think...thanks katherine will check out direct sites too and see first....but mag deals on amazon etc are amazing value - 2 mags we buy here for $7-$15 each time are $8 US for both for one year!!! go figure....even with postage it still works out heaps cheaper...

katherine do u have any direct sites / mag suggestions? Pm me if u like...

Hey bombshell, I get Child, Parents, Parenting, Family Fun, Wonder Time, Good Housekeeping, and Woman's Day (the American one, which is more like a bi-weekly or monthly). You're right about the prices being cheaper than NZ mag subscriptions -- I used to work at New Zealand Woman's Weekly, and even with a staff discount, the cost of a year's subscription was the equivalent of a year's sub to three of my American mags!

My favourite mag is Child, because I love the articles and the way it's written. Parenting and Parents are tied for second. Family Fun is great for ideas of things to do with the kids (even though my kid isn't quite old enough for lots of the activities, they're great for future reference). Wonder Time is a new mag similar to Family Fun, but aimed at toddlers -- it's early days but I like the content. Good Housekeeping and Woman's Day are real women's mags -- recipes, crafts, home stuff. I love them. I also used to get Family Circle but don't like the content so much any more -- now my mom sends me hers in six-monthly lots.

Just as a point of reference, my Wonder Time subscription was $10, plus $20 postage. US dollars but still cheaper than NZ subs! And definitely cheaper than the newsagent!

what are the websites where you order these?   I never really thought about overseas mags, but Katherine, you've got me a bit excited about it now! and I have a birthday coming up - might have to convince hubby I need a mag subscription or three!
