Ooooh I remember being chomped! Not long after she got top teeth too, and BOY, did I yell! And then the pain until she adjusted her latch to accommodate said top teeth....

Lauren has always bitten when she gets front teeth, last time round she'd make me bleed, this time thankfully it's not so bad! She's getting her 3rd and 4th on the bottom at the moment and I've noticed she's mostly stopped biting now that they are almost through the surface. It's painful, just gotta hang in there! my sympathies.

Keiras bottom teeth came through at the same time, but she didn't just bite, she would bite down and yank on my nipple, and when I would scream in pain she would look at me with a fright like "why would you do that to me?" so I stopped breast feeding her after she kept doing it, hurt so much, I went through the bleeding chapped nipples at the beginning but her trying rip my nipple off, nope, not cool!! (but yeah now I offer her my boob and she cracks up)

Isla had 4 teeth by the time she was 5 months old. She bit me a few times, and I cant remember who told me to do this but it so worked -
I said (in a stern voice)- No Isla. Mummy doesnt like that. Took her off the boob and put her a few metres away from me on the ground. She looked as shocked as ever, but it worked,..I then let her feed again and she never did it again!

both my boys have turned their heads slightly with a smirk before biting so i just had to pay attention and pull my nipple out quickly and then that would be the end of the feed. They both got teeth at 4 months and got plenty of milk still from the initial feed......
You too will learn the signals........and best to learn them before you have top ones to meet up with the bottom ones..... But i fed until 13months with no major dramas with teeth.........unfortunately my third(3months old) is already biting with his gums so things might be different this time around

its like they need to relearn how to do it once the teeth come in... if you let him know it hurts, usually an ouch and a removal they soon get the picture.
and ow yeah, i sure have been bitten... its worse when they get older and go to get off your lap but forget to take the tit out of their mouth!

I agree with Bizzy it seemed that with each new set of teeth it took a while for us both probably to adjust to a new latch which accomodated the new teeth and was comfortable.
DS bit me a few times and I totally agree its when they are bored or ready to play around so pay close attention to when the mood of the feed starts to change if that makes sense. I personally would end the feed after the bit and say' Ow biting hurts Mummy, no more boobie' (as calmly as possible while fighting back tears lol). While he wont understand the words exactly he'll catch on quick enough at that age what it means.
Blardy hell it hurts like hell though |

Same here, Lily chomps down and then tries to pull off while still sucking - result was a hickey on my nipple! man it hurt!

Yup it hurts but at least its only a few times before they learn not too. I got bitten a few times when first bottom teeth were through and then once when top teeth came through now its all good. Just a pain if he hears something on tv or what ever and jerks his head up. Ouchie!

Jake does both Kelly! He bites or pinches my nipple...
Grrrr, Jake totally does it for a reaction now and he laughs his little head off. Telling ouch or stop or whatever doesnt work, he just thinks its great fun. Not looking forward to the top ones coming down too He doesnt do it every feed... and he is pretty cute and never bites hard enough to break skin (though hard enough to leave me grimacing).
