has anyone used both? what do you think about them?

or does anyone have TIVO and what do you think about it?

to have tivo you need to have internet with telecom.

so for us it was a big influence in our decision to not go with them.

We were looking at changing MySky for Tivo but decided not ready to give up the channels on MySky yet.

I would definably consider it again if we wanted to cut the sky bill down & ready to give up a few channels.

Our BB is with Telecom so have no issues with them there.

I love my MySky!

We looked at Tivo after having MySky, and for us the turn-off was having to be with Telecom for internet (or pay for the downloads), plus the amount they charge for their "on demand" stuff. For us it made more sense to keep Sky.

Having BB with Telecom isn't a must. You only need the Telecom provided BB if you want to access their on demand stuff (which is getting better).
However, I recall seeing something somewhere saying you don't need Telecom BB to access that anymore but if you're with Telecom it doesn't use up any of your monthly data, if you're with another ISP it eats it.

We had Sky (not MySky, though) and as much as I enjoyed the range of channels, they weren't a must (especially when the monthly bill came in!).

Aside from the standard features TiVo offers (live pause, recording 2 channels while watching a third on normal UHF, fast forward, rewind etc...) it "learns" your types of shows and records things it thinks you might like.
Also it'll record things I usually record (like Shorty) if I've forgotten to set it up (I really need to season pass it!!).

Hiya

My friend works for Telecom and got Tivo for free and ended up "upgrading" to mysky because he said Tivo was pretty average.

I don't know where abouts in the country you are and if you have telstra tv available but they are also bringing out a PVR (personal video recorder) very soon so might be worthwhile waiting around to see what theirs is like if you aren't in a hurry.

We have mysky and love it but are upgrading to telstra mostly because we can get the whole package (internet phone and tv) for $5 more with twice the broadband allowance.

Telstra is pretty good. You get good packages with phone, internet & sky. They are cheaper too. They do my sky i think. Although there tv isnt called My sky, its got all the same programs that sky has, same channels etc.
