You must be really excited. Where are you going to be living? My friend was in the same situation (sames dates even) and she phoned around while she was still overseas. It can be pretty hard getting a midwife here at the moment depending on where you are going to be.
Good luck

let us know what area you will be living in....if in auckland perhaps contact birthcare now and book into an antenatal class ready....they are easy to get to from anywhere in auckland really

Glad some kiwis return home...still far too many of my friends on their extended OEs!!!

i got my mum to ring and book a midwife for me, then when i went to the doctor I just emailed her any results he gave me. she was fantastic, so if you'll be going to Palmerston north I can recommend her to you!

Hi EK

I would recommend getting yourself organised with a midwife ASAP - I had to call 12 before I found one that could take me. If you are going to be in central auckland PM me and I will let you know who was fully booked for October to save you the hassle!!

I rang Birthcare and booked out classes with them - they said that they were getting booked out quite early these days - we are booked on a course in July / August!

It must be nice to be coming home - we waited to start baby making until we got back here, we couldnt imagine having a baby in London (even though we LOVED it!!)

Good Luck

Sam

Ek - you really need to have an idea of which part of Auckland as different midwifes serve different areas and birth in different parts. I am central east if that is near where you may end up, I can reccomend my mw.

Goodlge mamamaternity for lists of midwives and free antenatal courses in auckland.

HI, I did the same thing in 2005 when I was due for my first that May. I lived in London for 6 years & flew home to NP at 30 weeks pregnant. I got my Mum to book a midwife and classes for me (in New Plymouth). Since not from Auckland, I can't help with recommendations re midwife & classes but can re flying.
If you haven't requested a bulk-head seat already, call your airline and request it now. You wont have any problems getting first dabs on a bulk-head and you will need it to keep your feet up as often as you can. Also they will try and get you closer to the front of the plane which means you get to eat earlier (yay).
Good luck on your new life back home when you get here!!!
