Topic: Fathers Day Gift Ideas Posted: 14 August 2010 at 5:54pm |
Any ideas? The big day is just around the corner and this year I am stumped on what to give DH!
I have done all the photo things - but want something different this year, so any suggestions will be great

This year I have got DH a Magic Collage Mug from Snapfish, not sure what else we will get him.
How about getting an "experience" gift? Check out Love One Day Sales Website, it lists all the 1 day sales websites and the experience ones (further down the page) have often got some good deals, we got my Bro a Harbour Bridge Bungey for his birthday and it was only $60 which is half price!

I am planning on getting DH a "worlds greatest dad" mug, some decent coffee beans and a coffee grinder.

I'm thinking a cheesecake from YummyMummy's - a bit of a treat for him seeing as he's been missing out on dairy treats alongside DD and I.
Possibly a book for him to read with DD as well.
Although he does NEED some socks and undies...

He's not getting anything, baby is still cooking. DH used that as an excuse for mother's day so I'm using the same on him.
He'll probably get a card and a cuddle next year.
Father's Day is the week before my Dad's birthday so I give him a Father's Day card and a birthday present.
TBH a lot of the fathers day cards out are a bit naff.

This year DH got me a movie to watch with our little one and so I have done the same. He got me The Sound of Music and I got the Asterix box set the other day. I wanted Chitty Chitty Bang Bang but couldn't find it. We have movie nights so it's a great idea to stock up on movies for our family night.

We do books to read together. So last year C gave DH "Guess How Much I Love You." Not sure which book we'll get this year yet! I have also heard of people (with older kids) buying games to play together as a family. I like the DVD idea too!

I need something that weighs no more than 1kg to send overseas - no chocolates, no breakables. So far we have a picture in a frame of the kids, a poster Jack and Ava made at daycare, and their handprints on a small canvas.

im giving DP a printable collage of photos that are done like a scrapbook page (in the March 2010 OB photo thread on page 7 if you want to look)...
also an idea might be for something that he loves to do. ie/ plan a family fishing day (mum can sit with a book, dad can fish and kids can be with either one depending on age i guess lol) or a surprise picnic at your local gardens/park/beach etc... indoor go karts, bowling, depending on ages of your kids, you could have a "daddy appreciation day" where they perform skits, or songs etc..... grab the camera and do an impromptu road trip.... take a pic of dad and the kids at every place you drive through (sign posts work well so you remember where each one was) to "document the day"... then when you get home have the kids tell stories about what they loved about the day/being with dad? could even then secretly scrapbook the pics or collage them and give him the page/s or photos for a xmas gift?
(obviously some work better for older kids but just some ideas)

A few years back I got the three kids in white t shirts and jeans and they spelt out the letters D A D with their bodies on white carpet. We have a second storey on the house so I went up there to photo it from above. Then put each letter in a three photo frame. He has it in his office and is quite proud of it.
A pic that the kids have painted and you can get put on a t shirt or mouse pad etc with most photo websites. Even if the t shirt becomes a pj shirt rather than out in public.
A job voucher book. One voucher for a sleep in, breakfast in bed, hug, car wash, you get the idea. This can be handmade and free.
Not sure what we are doing this year. I might get the kids onto making something.
