Topic: IVF waitlist Posted: 08 July 2010 at 4:39pm |
Does anyone know if whilst on the public funded waitlist, you opt to go private, whether you lose your place?
I've been told that if you have a successful/continuing pregnancy you come off it (understandably). However they could not say if this meant "live birth". (I lost my son at 30 weeks )

I'm so sorry that you lost your little boy. That must have been heart-breaking.
I know that if you opt for a private cycle while waiting for a public one, you don't come off the waitlist unless the private cycle is successful. But it sounds like in your situation it was until you lost your baby? Or are you looking at starting again?
Who couldn't give you the answer? If it was someone like fertility associates, I'm very surprised, they must have precedents for situations like this. I'd try them again until I got someone who could help.
In any case, hugs - this sounds like it's a really tough time for you.

Hi there,
I Have just had my second appt today with F/A in Hamlton and have been on here reading the messages from others.
Am interested to know why the wait list in Hamltion is 18mnths and in Auckland its 9mnths?
Do they get more funding because of a bigger area with more people?
We will be getting a letter later in the month to hopefully say we will be on the list!!

Emz26, I wonder if the waiting list in Auckland isn't as big as they have more clinics up there and Hamilton only has one.
Its stink that the waiting list is so long in hamilton, but they did explain to me that they do have a few cancellations which can bump your appt up the list.
We are going through FA Hamilton and we are due to have our treatment in Febraury 2012. Would be nice to keep in touch with others that are going to have treatment round the same time in the waikato area

Hey Emz26, we had our first consultation in the middle of june and we got our letter a couple of weeks after that telling us which month we would be eligible for the public funded treatment.
Thats good to hear about you weight loss, i know what you mean, i have just lost nearly 30kgs and need to keep it there until treatment.
We are in tokora, we head over to tauranga ocasionally as we have friends and family over there. Would be good to keep in touch with you, let us know how u get on and when you are having your treatment.
JaneW - How exciting you get to start in December, make sure you keep us posted on how everything goes.
Its good to have some similar aged people to share the experience with.

Hi Ladies
I had my first failed IVF ICSI cycle which started in May this year & finished early July. I was told in the same phone call that they told me it was a negative result that I will now have to wait 12 months in Auckland for my next (& final) publicly funded cycle. I wasn't aware that you had to wait another year for your second cycle after already having to wait a year to get in for your first cycle
Hopefully the wait for us all with go fast and we all get the BFP's we deserve!

12 x Clomid cycles
4 x IUI
2 x IVF ICSI = BFP on 2nd round!

Hi Ladies,
I have a similar story to trying4no1, Just done a round of IVF with ICSI June/July, BFN have to wait till my Sept cycle for my FET, and if that doesnt work, till June/July next year for my next public round, I am in Dunedin.
The waiting is hard, but good things come to those whom are patient . Well heres hoping.

Hi all - I am currently on the waiting list to be accepted for treatment, we tick all boxes except the amount of time we have been TTC - so we have to wait until I think April 2012 to be eligible for public funding, and then I think it's about a 10mth wait in Welly so would be looking end 2012/beginning 2013 before we started.....so in the meantime have decided to do a private round which we have just started....has meant a big lifestyle change but am very positive about it. Wish all you ladies luck in your adventures on this journey.....these forums are fantastic for support!! Is great to have people who truly know how you are feeling to talk to

I am in Culverden. Very small rural area. Great community though and we love it here.
Emz... I know what you mean, I also know many women that are either preggers or now holding their new born babies. And believe me, I ask myself "Why cant it be me?" everyday.
