Topic: Cravings Posted: 26 February 2007 at 2:32pm |
I was wondering what sort of things all of you are craving (or have craved) while pregnant.
I havnt so much yet but there is one thing i have been craving for a very long time.
KFC! its shocking! i have never wanted it this much in my life.
So how about you guys?
And also i was wondering, do you crave things throughout the whole pregnancy? or is it just a certain time? Do some people not having cravings at all?
Thanks guys =)

They all come and go but my biggies so far have been
Jam
Cheese and pineapple
Salt and vinegar chippies/chips
Salami
Ice cream
Steak
Yoghurt
It's not always the case but often my cravings can be linked to something I'm needing, ie iron, protein, energy (in the case of sugar lol). I still have cravings in the first couple of months of breastfeeding, at the moment it's anything chocolate. Probably because I have a long day with three kids' schedules and then broken night's sleep as well. Last nice I made a chocolate slice, promised to save a couple of pieces for DH and had the rest in an hour or two Didn't even ice it!

My fave at the moment, and it has been for around 5 weeks now is tomatoe on toast with Cracked pepper. The toast has to be Burgen Sunflower & Barley. I've been drinking alot of Coke Zero too...

Oh man, I have strange cravings.
Toothpaste (Have been brusing my teeth about six times a day, I just LOVE it).
The smell of my cleaners, Jif, spray and wipe, laundry powder.
Hot chips
Cold mashed potato sandwiches with barbecue sauce
fresh fruit! YAY, something healthy. I can't get enough of golden queen peaches, nectarines and apricots
vegemite toast
That's about it. Oh and milk was a big one for me in the first trimester, as it helped with my morning sickness.

I dont know if its a craving or if its just what I can stomach at the moment...but for me its white bread toast with peanut butter, or bacon butties with heinz tomatoe sauce. DH made me one for breakfast yesterday and I could have eaten 20 of them....yummo!!!
I have been craving really salty things...like hot chips and chicken nuggets that sort of thing.....

Ooo, sounds exactly like me in my first trimester! Hot chips, anything savoury, salty with tomato sauce. Oh and bread, lots of bread and toast. I just wanted really really plain stuff, but covered in salt.
They do say craving savoury and salty things means you're having a boy!

Have to say early on KFC nuggets / popcorn chicken was a craving - stayed well away from chicken on bone for entire pregnancy!
Then filet o fish for a few weeks
BUT worst has been the up to 12 litres of milk (i flavoured it!) a week i consumed...as well as having milkshakes and frappucinos etc when out!!!
NOW - and i am saying it is a craving (but that may just be an excuse) is Dream eggs - the white cream eggs!!! YUMMMYYYYYY!!!!!!

My big one was salt - it was really bad I got to a stage of putting salt on ready salted chips for a few weeks.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Bread! Or anything like bread - muffins, hot cross buns, crumpets. My waist line is not thanking me for it. I go thru at least 5 slices of bread a day, which is a big difference, before I was pregnant, I'd be lucky to have 1 slice a day!

I had salt cravings with #1 and #3... amazing stuff. But not necessarily boy related It is good for keeping leg cramps at bay so there's a plus. Funnily enough, it was sugar for #2 - jam toast, yoghurt and canned pineapple all the way!

I normally love bread, but can't stand it at the moment, unless its perfectly toasted white bread, with a little bit of butter. And only then can I have it every so often.
I'm craving hot chips too! Also macaroni cheese...the thought of it is better than it tastes at the moment though.
My biggest thing is fruit salad (or any fresh, chilled fruit)...yummm...I'm finding that its also my mid-night snack (I've never been one to snack in the middle of the night, but do now )

Haven't really had cravings, though have the odd day where I really want something.
Early on I came home and demanded hot chips (just chips, nothing else) for dinner.
One night I smelt buttery eggy cooking so we HAD to have french toast for tea.
Coke has been the biggestcraving - as I am not drinking caffiene I invested in some caffiene free coke to get me through.
Mostly baby has preferences for food, rathe than cravings. Bubs likes salad and tomatoes in particular. It was off chocolate for ages there, but now it has decided it likes peppermint creme eggs.

Coke is a big craving for me too, and I don't drink coffee or have any other caffiene products so I'm sticking with normal coke. Naughty I know, but I don't have it every single day.
