Any tried and true methods of how to get a 1 year old to sleep at night with two ear infections. Is it safe to prop up his head with a pillow? He's SO tired but will only sleep on me. The head of his bed is raised already
Leah had ear infections in both ears too Bec about 6 weeks ago (along with croup). I resorted to sleeping on a fold out couch with her and she snuggled up onto a pillow on her tummy. She was so unhappy in her bed and simply wouldn't settle so I just let her be for about 4 nights.
Yeah Alex and I slept (well, he did, not sure about me!) on the lazy boy last night. He's coping okay for the first three or four hours of sleep at night but then it all turns to custard.
I've resorted to sleeping in a lazy boy with bub in my lap on occasions where upright worked better. Antibiotics should work pretty quick to get him feeling better so it shouldn't be long enough to mess up his sleep. I feel for you!
I ended up joining DD in her cot the other night so I didn't have to move her after I fed her to sleep cos her ears woke her whenever she moved and she wouldn't settle any other way.
The other week when Cooper slept better with his head on my pillow I put a little pillow for him in his cot but underneath the sheets so it wouldn't cover his face - as I think that's what the safety issue was?
Thanks for that idea. I think that combined with him being in a safety sleep should hopefully prevent anything horrible happening. And he is 12 months so I think the safety issues should start to ease...
You should be able to tell by whether he generally lifts his head and turns it over when he is lying face-down. You could also try a stroller if the cot still doesn't work. Or if you're keen, let him sleep with you. His symptoms should be much better by tomorrow night.
we used to put the pillow under the mattress, so it raised the mattress up further. The boys have had chronic ear infections and that seemed to work. Good luck!
