Hey all those mummies
I have been having this pain in my lower left abdomen for about 4 days now, hurts mostly when i stand up or cough and sneeze, any one else out there who has had the same thing and could tell me what it could be? When i do get the pain it feels almost like i have a stitch. Any replys would be awsome.

hmm i sometimes used to get the same kind of pain on my left side quite far down almost just by my hip - turns out it was an enlarged pelvic vein causing the pain, but was told it was nothing to worry about so havent had to do anything about it. This was found when I had a laparoscopy where they also found endometriosis which I had removed. sorry not much help

lilly88 I had this pain too, and I also described it exactly the same way 'a weird stitch like pain' when I was telling my midwife about it.
She put it down to muscular pain, that didn't help me as there was nothing she could do about it.
I hope you can get it sorted!

I get this too, my midwife said that it was due to the muscles and ligaments stretching and that it is very common.

Yep, same as above. It was often worse the more active I was (good excuse to slow down) .
I just put a wheatie on at night to help ease it.

How far along are you?
I had a similar sort of pain on my right side in the same place around weeks 15-20 or maybe a bit earlier too. My specialist said it was probably just things stretching and not to worry. It did go away in time, sometimes it comes back but not often.
The wheat bag always helped it to go away if you don't have one definitely invest!

Sounds like round ligament pain or even sciatica to me.

Ohh I had pain when I sneezed in the beginning, straight after would REALLY sharply hurt for about 30 seconds! Is totally normal, going into a hunching position when you sneeze sorts it out. Am now 19 weeks and have no problems.

Another one here who had that pain. It did eventually go away, and like others have said, it was put down to stretching etc. I found that if I applied firm pressure to the area before coughing, blowing my nose etc, it helped eleviate some of the pain, but just know it will pass.

i'm not sure how far through you are but i'm 23 weeks and I got the pregnancy update from ohbaby this morning:
You may start to feel the odd pain in your tummy from this point on. "Braxton Hicks" is a uterine contraction which is uncomfortable but not painful and occurs around every 20 minutes and lasts for about 20 seconds. You can also get what feels like the stitch down the side of your stomach. This should go away after a short rest, or you could try deep breathing techniques. Both of these contractions are just your uterus preparing itself for birth.
I get pains sometimes when I cough or sneeze, and I find putting pressure there when I do it works.

Round Ligament pain! Its like a nasty stitch feeling. I got it really bad with my first, I was ready to call my midwife as it hurt so bad, but after some panadol and the heat sack it went away and then got less painful each day,
Its just all the ligaments stretching, its not nice at all, but it doesnt last too long usually.

I got that from about 25wks preg with Isla. Wasn't much fun but MW said it was just one of the unfortunate parts of pregnancy! I'd get it if I walked more than about 200m. It's just all the ligaments and muscles stretching in the pelvic area. Ouchies!!
