I am breastfeeding my 13 month old and are 7 weeks pregnant with #3. I am reluctant to wean. I breastfed my daughter until she was nearly 2.

The problem I'm having at the moment is he feeds great to begin with then he starts pulling off then wants it again. He does this over and over then bites me. My nipples are pretty sensitive at the moment anyway but this is really putting me off feeding. It hurts!

When he bites I sternly tell him "No that hurts mumma" and put him on the floor. He usually cries at this and at times I have too.

Any suggestions would be fantastic. I'm assuming my milk must be tasting different due to pregnancy hormones.

Could be, although it's my understanding that the milk doesn't change flavour so early in pregnancy... could be normal 13 month old behaviour too! Is the pregnancy making you more tired than usual? Could be affecting your letdown?

(my milk pretty much dried up around the 5 month mark, although JJ liked the new taste, sometime in the first trimester was when he started calling it nummies - he pretty much dry nursed until Addie was born and my milk came back in, and is still going now)

I'm really hoping my milk won't dry up! I wonder if my supply has reduced? He is still nursing 5 times a day, nothing has changed there.

Yes, I have been pretty tired. Both with the pregnancy, working and Sebastian not sleeping well at night. I haven't been aware of it affecting my letdown but will pay more attention now. Thank you.

Jake wasnt getting much and self weaned kinda.. he still feeds if he sees nakey boobs. Its all colostrom now and its quite funny as it takes him AGES to feed but he LOVES it.

I think once my milk comes back in he will feed away happily again.

I would agree with Weegee, probably the tiredness and maybe dehydration? I know I get sooo thirsty in the first trimester, i was drinking about 3-4ltrs a day as Jake was still feeding 5 plus times a day then.

I'm having the same issues. Well, Jude doesn't pull on and off but my nipples are sensitive and sore due to pregnancy. He can't seem to keep his teeth out of the way (no matter how many times I re-latch him - and he seems to have normal latch going on anyway) and he sometimes bites

Supply and let down seem to be fine, it's just that it's getting to the point where I dread breastfeeding. Doesn't seem to be much I can do about it. It sucks because I've never had any issues before now - BF has been a breeze so far, even when Jude was newborn. Really annoys me.

Hmmmm having BF my daughter throughout this pg, I can totally relate to the OUCH factor you are going through. It is not nice! I think mine is caused by pg hormones as well as 12 little teeth.....  I thought she'd self wean but um no lol. I'm sure my milk dried up alot during the middle of the pg but pretty sure it's come back now!

All I can suggest is to contact your local LLL and make sure bubs' latch is still good iykwim? Getting teeth can sometimes change how they feed I reckon...

GOOD LUCK
