My DS threw the BIGGEST tantie yet this morning because I wouldn't let him play with the computer cord. I'm talking screaming at the top of his lungs, and this weird cry where he almost chokes himself (iykwim). Is this normal developmental behaviour for this age??? Or is it a sign of bad things to come

We have the occasional screaming lying on the ground rolling about tantrum. They started at about 9 months but haven't seemed to have gotten any worse since then. I think it's pretty normal to start to show that they are unhappy with whats going on.

I just leave her until she comes to me or begins to calm down as distraction generally doesn't work.

lol, yep its normal! My daughter starting throwing mean tanties at about 8 or 9 months, full on screaming, bright red face with her arms banging at her sides! She is a little minx my girl lol, her nick name is minxy
Now that she is 13 months, when she doesnt get her way, or her brother takes something off her she screams and crys and attacks him trys to get the toy back, or she lies on her tummy, screams and kicks her legs.
I just ignore her when she does it, as she always looks at me to see if Im watching.

She is worse than my son with the tanties, must be a girl things!

Yip we've started getting the same thing recently. DS keeps pulling the little muslin cloths I use as wipes off the line and if I take them away he screams and his little fists clench up and shake. I usually try distraction. But tonight we had a real crazy one, we took him out of the bath and he started getting upset, so I thought we'd distract but he actually screamed and howled till he spewed (probably çause he'd only eaten not long before his bath) and then kept going till he fell asleep, not even dressed, hadn't had his bottle or anything he hasn't been happy all day though with his tooth and I've started to get sick so perhaps he is too so I think it pushed him over the edge.

But the point was... I think ít's normal - but probably a taster of what we'll experience in the toddler years.

Yip I'm going to assume it's normal as well as we had a couple of weeks of on and off tantrums and hissy fits, thankfully she seems to be over it for now!

She can also scream so that no noise seems to come out when she gets really wound up.

Hope it doesn't last too long for you!

Oooh yes we've had them here for months now! Always when she gets something taken off her that she wants, or if we try and give her something she doesnt want. Opinionated wee thing she is!

I missed out on most of DS's terrible 2's so I guess this is payback!
