Topic: Good news! Posted: 06 March 2007 at 10:02pm |
After much hmming and ahhing I have finally decided to organise a once a week housekeeper! I found someone to willingly vacuum, mop, change sheets, and give the bathrooms/toilets (2 of each) a once-over, all for $16/hour.
It sounds silly but I'm quite excited. I meet the lady this week (probably tomorrow morning) and will start her as soon as she's ready - especially since I've just had the roughest week ever (dizziness for a week, and now DH and Hannah have a vomitting bug) Feels like a weight is lifting off - even though I don't do those jobs regularly or often (except for vacuuming the lounge), it's still a few things off my mental to-do list.

I *made* it fit!
Truely, we're not on a big income by any means - and it's on-call - but I figure it's worth every cent to take it from our family support.

I have a housekeeper too, feels very lazy and slovenly to admit it since I am a SAHM, but it is worth every last cent, and takes a lot of stress off me!! They are worth their weight in gold!! I pay her $30 a week, for about one and a half to two hours.

Jeez, I just gave my housekeeper an advance on her wages...She turned up here in tears this morning (she usually comes wednesdays unless it is cool - like today- when she stays at home and does her ironing job) her power was going to get cut off unless she paid $300 straight away. Now, she's on a bene, and just dosen't have $300 lying around. The $300 was a final reading from her last place before she moved up here. She had been paying it off, albiet very slowly.. I had to put the $300 on my C.Card and tell her she will have to work for me for 10 weeks for "free"... lucky I trust her! Now, how to "hide" that from Rod lol!

I could have just kept paying her, and her pay me back in bits and bobs, but at least this way I know it will get paid and how much and when... Makes no sense to me to give her $ each week, and then her to turn around and give it back to me?

I couldnt live without mine - and we dont even have a baby yet!!!
I often think that we are soooo lazy - but the reality is that as we both work from home at the moment, if we concentrate on the cleaning then we dont get any work done and dont get paid! (a bit like being on here!!!!) It really is so nice to have someone that you trust as well. We pay our young lady $15 per hour and she spends 2-3 hours a week, but she does anything that we need her to. today she cleaned the kitchen windows! She is at Uni and I like to think we are supporting her efforts in some small way!
I had a nightmare last year - we went through 3 cleaners in 3 months...my standards arent THAT high, I think we just managed to find completely useless people!!

PERFECT!
$30 a week isn't really that much at all is it? I'm finding it really hard to keep things "decent" what with working during the day, then demos in the evening and trying to spend quality time with Caitlin (the most important job in the world! )
I might have to have a chat to DH about a cleaner

It does seem kinda silly to have a cleaner when you're a SAHM - that's what I am - but I reckon my time is better used with just *some* housework and looking after the girls (and even resting a bit cause it's a big job!), rather than boring mundane loo-scrubing, shower wiping, and vacuuming. Betty-Ann starts next week, I'm really looking forward to it. And since I'll be here when she's here, I can always adjust the day's list of jobs if I want!
