I went to buy some chicken for a stirfry and was outraged at the price of it! $17.99kg for skinless/boneless chicken! wtf? It is usually about $15 a kg and goes on special for 9.99kg (I stock up then).

Is this just pak n save or everywhere?

It wasn't that expensive this week at PnS in Palmy. I still didn't get any as the Mad Butcher has chicken on sale here and its for the rest of the month.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

In my supermarkets (Akl North Shore) our boneless/skinless chicken breasts are $16.99/kg on special. They can get up to $19.99/kg when not on special. I think I'm living in the wrong city

I am sure P&S isn't that bad Amber, but must admit I don't pay that much attention. (I am North Shore too)

Got ours from P&S last time for $14.99 I think, but that was a reduced to clear one. Generally shop at foodtown or countdowns (which are more expensive) cause P&S is a real nightmare. I've given up buying anything frozen there, it's usually half defrosted by the time I get through the checkouts.

Actually, I lie ... I do buy those little frozen choc eclairs they are defrosted and ready to scoff by the time I get home.

Oh just checked freezer, $16.49. If you get it with skin on it is cheaper though.

P&S is all about timing! Some days is great, some days are awful.

I absolutely refuse to go there on a weekend. It's a guaranteed trigger of trolley rage.

we buy ours on special and buy up BIG and then throw it in freezer (and split down any bulk packs before freezing)

...so usually only pay $6 99 - $9 99 at supermarkets or mad butcher.

Our woolworths often has chicken on non advertised special on a sunday evening too...so we stock up then if we go (usually do NW or countdown tho)

Mad Butcher is always good for cheap chicken it usually gets right down to 6.99/kg

I don't eat red meat so I eat a lot of chicken but will only buy it when it is cheap and stock up.
