Has anyone ever won anything with bonus bonds? Or knows anyone who has?

I think my mom won something last year....with the bonus bond her brother had given her for an xmas present when they were kids. Apparently they don't expire. Other then that, no. I was wondering myself!

I have won 4 lots of $20 last yr. We do it online now.
My friends dad & uncle put money they inherited & won big one. Her dad won $20k on $70k he had & her uncle won 2 lots of $50k on about 70k invested.
I think they are a great way of saving

My mum and dad win all the time (not large amounts), they draw all of theirs out though and then put it back in. Dad thinks they win more that way...he obviously has way too much time on his hands!

Does anyone have these for the kids? I'm wondering if it would be a good way to save the money they get given.

MIL won $500 off hers earlier in the year, and DH had one that MIL bought him when he was little - a $2 one (cos you could buy them like that then) and he won $20 on it. I havent got any but keep meaning to get some.

My MIL does them for the kids for birthday and xmas, they get a cheap toy or lollies to open on the day.
I think its a good idea as I don't have any more room in my house for toys!

I have had some since I was a kid and have won $30 here and there, but nothing major.
My Mum has set up a great thing for DD though, she has invested some money in Pumpkin Patch shares in DD's name instead of buying bonus bonds. Something a little different. I thought it was quite a cool idea!

My mil said she was buying some for the kids for their birthdays etc, she's never said anything about them winning anything though?! Her mum used to win a couple of times a year, nothing major though.

I've won a few times, nothing major, just $20-$30 each time...I don't have heaps, just a couple of hundred dollars or so. My Mum buys them for me, my sister and our partners for our birthdays...we don't really 'need' anything and it's the kind of gift that potentially keeps on giving!

We've put all the money from our coin jar in bonus bonds for DD (since having her) She's probably got about $500 and has won two lots of $20
A workmates sister won $1,000,000 prize a few years ago

My son had $50 invested and so far on average he wins $20 a year so it's still better than a savings account at a normal bank.
