I have a brio for my son and was planning on putting him into our other seat when number two arrives and has outgrown his/her capsule.
I spoke to baby on the move and they suggested baby could just go straight into the brio. I've always kind of thought there wouldn't be enough support for a newborn in the brio and that it was kinda big but what are your opions? Has anyone used the brio from new born?

Hi two_puddle-ducks. We got our brio when DS was 6 months old. I don't think it would fit a younger baby for the fact that I could only just get it tight on him because the shoulder strap padding was almost longer than his torso height. So to pull it tight on a younger baby the padding would bunch, and/or just wouldn't pull tight. IYKWIM? As it is I have started to fray the edges of the tightening strap due to having to pull so hard on it for that very reason.
So although I haven't used it on a newborn I don't plan too, and prefer the idea of our next to go into a capsule as they just seem snuggly in them.

I don't have a brio but I have put Alex straight into a convertible instead of a capsule.. but reading janini's comment is it possible to take the padding off the straps then you could do it up tighter as those wouldn't be restricting it?

Kebakat I used a convertible with my son but we sold that one when we got our brio so now with the new one coming along I need to sort an interim.
Thanks Janini for that info. I was looking at the brio and I couldn't possibly see how you could put a new born into it. I think I will ignore the baby on the move comments.

Baby on the move told us NOT to put DS straight into the Brio. They said while they are designed to that they wouldn't recommend it. DS was about 6mths wayn we used it.

I preferred the capsule anyway when he was little.

HuMum I am sure when I brought the brio for my DS that they said don't use it as a new born seat so was shocked when I inquired about a capsule for baby number 2 that htye said the brio would be ok. I was talking to a different branch though.

DS was a average 6 monther when we put him in, always had a strong neck tho, but I would have felt funny putting him the brio straight away. .. you could hardly see him in the seat at 6mths!   Probably would have lost him in it as a new born!!!

You can take the padding off the straps so it tightens down more and angle the seat more so they are nicely reclined and get a head snugger thing to support them better.
However we will be using a capsule again, I like being able to take them in places in the capsule without waking them up and stick the capsule in supermarket trolleys instead of putting them in those minging built in seats.
