Lots of daycares take them, but you may have to shop around to find one that does. Ours takes them so it hasn't been an issue at all for us, and fortunately it's an amazing centre.
If you have a centre that doesn't allow it that you much prefer over any that do allow cloth, I'd take some of your nappies in, perhaps with a wetbag as well, and actually show them what you mean by cloth nappies (they may well be imagining white flats).
Ours usually get the poo scraped into the loo, then rolled up and snapped shut so they are just a clean outer with the poos/wees all secure inside. Then into a wetbag and we take them home each day. Sometimes they are busy or the poo is a really sticky one so they just roll the nappy up with poo still on it and we deal with it at home. It's really not a big deal, so sometimes you just have to show them that
