I need help.

My son is 9 months old with 5 teeth that have cut through will only a little drama and only a few sleepless nights.

I am not sure what teeth are moving but he is teething and our nights are just awful.
I have tried for the last week to let him CIO. Which I have never done before. The first few nights he settled within 10 mins of just grizzling not even full on crying. But the last 2 nights we are back to him full on crying and us being up for more than 2 hours at a time. We tried giving him a bottle but he isn't interested, he just wont sleep.
We have tried to put him in bed with us but he wont settle and just wants to play.

I have for a few nights given him pamol, I don't want to over do it....if you can?
I am not sure if there is anything else that we can do for him????

I have been told Bonjela is not good for them...?
Any suggestions would be greatly received.

I've never heard Bonjela is not good? I used it with Maya (who thankfully teethed with no major dramas) and have some on hand but haven't needed it with the gremlins yet.

Ok so maybe that is what I need to invest in.
I just feel sorry for him....I am sleep deprived but imagine how he feels.

As long as you are not exceeding four doses in 24 hours I think it is, you should be fine with the Pamol - when Erin is absolutely inconsolable with teething (and we have had a few pretty horrible nights), I don't hesitate to use it once I've exhausted all other options. I've never heard anything about Bonjela being bad either, and use this if need be. If you haven't already, try getting some of the NaturoPharm 'Teethmed' spray from your local chemist or health shop - it's a homeopathic remedy and has worked quite well for us too. Good luck !

we have these teething pills- look like sugar pills that disolve on the tongue - called "new Era combination R tissue salts" and they are supposed to be especially good for the earache that often accompanies teething.

Just remember not to use Bonjela and Pamol at the same time, as it can lead to overdose.

Ok we used Pamol last night, Tyrell slept from 7.30 till 9.00 then it was over. So at 10.30 my DP went to the supermarket and got Bonjela. At 11.30 when he still wouldn't settle we gave him the Bonjela then a bottle. He took less than half and slept till 6.

Thanks Busymum as I was thinking tonight I might give him pamol and then Bonjela...so now I wont.

He has just crashed in his bed......literally face first. so I have turned him and off to enjoy a nice long shower as I now have to face a day at work.

I might give him another night and if he isn't right may take him to Dr to get his ears checked as well.....as it is free.

I've never heard of that before? As a matter of fact, when Olivia was teething at 3 months (bonjela is 4 months +) I was shoo'd out the door by my Dr with a script for pamol and told to pick up some bonjela as well.
What was the theory behind that busymum?

My advice is lots of cold things In the middle of the night try warm water instead of formula and listen to the crying. Olivia has the "OMG DYING NOW!" cry and the "OMG PRETENDING TO DIE COME IN AND SEE MEEEE!" cry. I normally give her 20 mins on the "OMG PRETEND!" before re settling, although she is usually back to sleep before then

Thanks, we have the same 2 crys. During the week after a full week of "oh my gosh get me now" we got the" I am trying it on" that lasted less than 10 mins.

Then in the weekend we had the "Oh my gosh get me now"
I have never been a CIO person but have given it a go for the last week. It pulled at my heart strings for the first few nights but then I thought "I am trying it on" was ok to leave and it was fine as he would settle down. But the last few nights we are back to the "oh my gosh get me now"

It is awful!

i think the theory behind the mixing pamol and bonjela is that both are painkillers, so if you are giving the max of each, combined it will be too much. that said, we often give Taine both - well, when we used bonjela, but i made sure to gieve him a smaller dose of pamol than usual.

I do the bonjela first, then if that really doesn't help, pamol as a last resort.  A friend told me that a piece of fresh apple in muslin cloth for them to chew on works well on some babies too.  Didn't on Ella but does for others.

The gremlins love apple in muslin - only problem is they think I am their personal slave (OK so they're not far wrong!) and want me to hold it for them.

Bonjela and Pamol are safe to use together. Aspirin is contraindicated tho so you shouldn't use Bonjela and aspirin-based products together. Not sure why on that one tho?

Ah I see! Ta! I knew aspirin was a blood thinner but didn't know how that related to the Bonjela

So far I haven't used anything other than cold fruit in one of those net-bag thingys but now that Alyssa has so many teeth I'm not sure I can still use that?

emma beat me to it - was going to say pamol and bonjela together are fine, its asprin and bonjela together that is a no go...
oh and if you have been prescribed the pamol then if you give the dosage as stated on the bottle you will be fine cause they go by the childs weight.

Will also say tho that if bub has sore teeth then CIO isnt really going to work cause you need to deal with the pain first.

Thanks heaps for all of your help.
I took Tyrell to the Dr last night....he has a raw throat. She took a swap and has sent it off to get checked, if it is bacteria then he will get antibiotics. If it is viral then we have to see it out.
It wasn't my normal GP, once she took the swap she rushed us out the door to drop it off at the Lab. I wanted to ask her about his rash on his checks well didn't even get a chance to say thank you and we were out the door.

Last night he finally went to bed at 10! then I was up to him again at 12....didn't take him too long to settle and then he has been up since 5 this morning.
He is happy enough during the day, it is just at night that he seems to be unsettled.

I should be greatful that I got 5 hours sleep, I know some mummies still struggle to get that. I just had the thought of trying to do a days work now.....I am sure my eyes are hanging out of my head!
